Casual, clubby mainstay preparing sushi & other Japanese, Chinese & Thai dishes with a modern twist.
Selena was my server she was efficient quick and helpful. The only thing I did not like was I ordered a unsweetened iced tea and my husband the sweet iced tea. Both of them the tea tasting old. (Like more than 3 days old!). But everything else is delicious and hot and prompt.
I would rate zero but I appreciate the effort the only two servers in the entire restaurant put in took a good while to have the take the order. To the management it was Friday night why don't you hire more people!
Also my Shrimp from the Kung pao didn't feel right. The concept is there but overall needs a lot!
My coworkers and I came in on a weekday for lunch and they ordered sushi and it looked good. I was in the area and decided to stop in and order some. It was the smallest sushi I have ever had, literally the size of my thumb pad and I’m not a big person. One side was a single of a grain of rice wide. Being Saturday it was almost $10.
The food here was fresh and delicious! I went in with my family about an hour or so before closing. It was our first time in so we were excited to try it. The staff welcomed us when we walked in but when we requested to dine-in, the mood seemed to change after sitting down. We felt a little rushed to order and rushed to eat. The lady serving us wasn't rude, but she wasn't all that nice. Also, she sat us in the back of the restaurant and there were only two other people there who were preparing to leave. It felt like they were ready to go for the night even though there was plenty of time before closing. We ordered, ate and left 20-30 minutes before they closed. I would return for the food, but I probably will order takeout. The dine-in experience wasn't that great. I did leave an appropriate tip, and I heard the server make a comment when we were walking out. She should be careful. You never know how many languages your customers may speak. If the customer service was a little better, I think this place would be 5 stars all around.
1st time as this restaurant and I could not be more happy with my choice to eat here. Good prices and plenty to choose from on the menu. If your looking to satisfy your suchi craving, stop by Koi Asian Cuisine. You'll be glad you did and your wallet will agree.. let me know what you think. Love to hear from you.
4.5 stars. We have pretty good dining experience for lunch of 11 people. The food are reasonable priced for this type of restaurant. The staffs wear masks and gloves, the restaurant table and restroom are clean. The dishes are tasty. Plates are medium size. Many varieties.
That Thai food was surprisingly good also.
So happy I stumbled on this place. Right now it's take out only.
The soup was delicious, the broth was very flavorful and it was full of real seafood. The beef & broccoli was perfect, very tender beef, nice brown gravy & the broccoli wasn't over cooked. The Bad Romance roll was so good, we loved everything & will definitely go back when we're back in that area.
Delicious food, great portion sizes, and good prices! The new name of this place is Sushi Freedom, seems they are finishing up the rebrand. The service was a bit slow but staff are friendly. The booth seats are far from the table, which made it a bit uncomfortable to eat.
Food is great! Love their sushi
Underrated spot! The food is good, the presentation of it is good, and the portions are quite big for the price you pay. I recommend this restaurant.
I recently visited this restaurant and had a mixed experience. The portions were smaller than expected, the fried rice was overly salted, and the spring roll was excessively oily. Adding to the confusion, the establishment had multiple names — the door said "Koi Asian," while the building showed "Sushi Freedom." This inconsistency didn’t help the overall impression.

Really solid food, sesame chicken is crunchy and flavorful. Gyoza is crisp and well seasoned. Recommend!
Excellent sushi with some really interesting varieties including the Maryland crab roll, mango roll, and many others. We love the vegetable Mei Fun, other noodles and seafood.
I came to this place, now named “Sushi Paradise”, expecting an all-you-can-eat sushi session, which they proudly flaunt outside. Come to learn once I’m inside that the all-you-can-eat sushi is not in effect yet. There is nothing even at the entrance that warns/informs you of this. Just that the name of the place has changed. I came to this place today because the day before I had driven by and seen the sign. So I am upset that today I specifically came here, lured under false pretenses.

This is a great place to eat! The staff are amazing! The atmosphere very soothing and welcoming. Nice place to go with family, have business meetings, or a date.
the food was great and came out fast and the service was great yall should check it out

Great place with fantastic food!
Friendly, amazing staff and great food

It was a very hot day, and their AC wasn't working but the food and service were excellent.
My first time going there and I ordered Singapore rice noodle with chicken and shrimp, pepper steak and chicken fried rice. Don't know about anything else but those 3 dishes were on point ☝️
The food wasn't bad, just about average. I want to warn everyone the suggested tip on the check is including the tax. Always calculate the tip yourself based on the subtotal. This is not the first time I encountered this issue.
Good lunch spot
Fantastic food and service!!!
Warning! Pass this restaurant by. Don't be fooled by the attractive website. This is not Asian fusion or however they describe their food. It's truly bad. The Triple Delight lunch special was basically tasteless except for the shrimp, the bitter-tasting peapods, and the fried rice. The egg roll was greasy and hollow. And the service? Lousy.
So this is the second time that I've visited this restaurant and for the most part it has not let me down. Why I say for the most part it's because depending on the order you choose, it depends on the quality of cut for the sushi you will receive. Example the appetizer sushi dish get a less quality cut than the ala carte for sushi pieces. Overall I would give this restaurant a 9 out of 10. If you are in the area and want some great rolls or sushi definitely the place to go.
Take out vegetarian pad Thai was very good. Not spicy. Snap peas, sprouts, broccoli, peanuts. No tofu, but I added some at home and it was great.
Vegetable and shrimp tempura inedible. I peeled the batter off the shrimp and it didn't look properly cooked. Had to send it back, at least they didn't charge me for it. Teriyaki salmon was OK. Huge portions but they should pay more attention to how they prep the food. They also tried to decline my Mastercard debit card even though I told them to try a card reader. This card works everywhere mind you. Will not come back.
I ordered a vegetarian fried rice. While the portion was large and more than enough for one person the rice was undercooked and still had huge bite to it which is completely unacceptable for a sushi place where cooking rice properly is the corner stone of the business. The staff are very unfriendly and borderline appear to be angry when taking orders. This is one the very few restaurants that I have ever felt uncomfortable to order food in.
The food is good but the broad variety in the menu made it a really wonderful experience. We did leave very full and happy and that's what it's all about. Great atmosphere by the way and the servers were very thoughtful and attentive
Walked in just to look at their menu, when I said I was just looking at the menu the front lady just stared at me, confused, and didn't say anything.
Looking for standard American Asian food - this place is a safe bet. Clean, nice place. Great service. Food was ok to good. Better than most - but nothing exciting. Egg roll was like 1,000 other places. Hot and sour soup was not very spicy but still good. Tsos Chicken was a little too sweet and lacked spicy heat - but was still ok. Portions are good sized. I would come back - but understanding the okeyness as the expectation.
I was actually very disappointed with our service and meal today. I've gone for dinner before but when I went for lunch with a few friends, the service felt rushed despite it being pretty slow. The waitress hardly came to our table and when she did, she would rush off. Never asked how we were doing, never asked how the food was. The food was unsatisfying, late, and far too little. Cherry on top was the included $20 tip they tried to sneak into our bill. A table of 4 for lunch should never have the tip forced into the bill. We're not bad tippers but it isn't like she provided great service anyway. That was the absolute last time I visit and would not recommend to anyone I know. We left unsatisfied and wishing we had picked another restaurant for lunch.
We were a party of eight. The restaurant was accommodating to our party and another party who had a walker for mobility. The food was very tasty. The portions are large, leading to food brought home for later meals.
This place was about as mediocre as it gets. The food wasn't bad but definitely wasn't good. Prices were about average. Service was perfunctory: not unfriendly but definitely not friendly.
Food made me sick . From I tasted the shrimp cooked in pork or chicken fat I should have known . Came back to my room and ralphed it all out
Beware they tip themselves 20% whether you like the service or not.
Ordered from the Thai menu but I'm sure they cooked from the Chinese food menu. Thick, heavy tasteless sauces covered my chicken and beef dishes. Not a hint of coconut milk in either dish. Not going back. Maybe fine if you want regular Chinese food but wouldn't order Thai or Japanese from there
Me encanta ir a koi es un lugar Super silencioso, relajante. La pasamos genial en San Valentin. La comida estuvo deliciosa
Food was very good, came with good sized portions. Our server was slow though. Willing to give it another try.
Koi is one of my favorite restaurants in that area. You will find no better General Tso chicken anywhere. Hands down the best!! One problem with Koi I had was the servers wore latex gloves to do everything. Serve food, take orders, take payments, clean, bus dirty dishes and silverware while simultaneously placing down new silverware. That’s really unacceptable. People want to eat in a clean environment and want to see that the servers are washing their hands frequently and can trust that they are not going to eat from a contaminated fork or plate. Let’s do better.
Very fine
Decent vibe for the price. Good sit down option near UMD - College Park area. Menu caters to bit of chinese, thai, japanese and sushi. Food and portions were good considering they dont specialize in one but serve multi cuisine menu (bit of everything).
The sushi dinner was very good. Giving four stars because I felt the price was very high for a standard offering, and the service was quite slow - it seemed as though this was due to understaffing, so no fault of the server.
Food is ok. Wing wah and silver fountain both not too far from here both taste better and a cheaper price. For this food to cost more it should taste better. Cook your food longer and add some seasoning

Awesome stop for us. Will be back again.
What a great experience! Thanks for the great meal and service.
the dookie fish made me queasy
Overall a good experience, they seem to be having heating issues as it was fairly cold inside. They did have some spaces heaters available though
If you use common sense & pay close enough attention, you will quickly see that this place is not sanitary. Those large jars of the duck & spicy mustard sauce that they bring to your table are disgusting. I went there with my daughter and I had never been there before. The 1st thing they brought to the table were these 2 jars of uncovered sauce with a small metal spoon already sitting in it. It wasn’t until we were getting ready to pay & leave that I noticed that the spoon in the spicy mustard had hardened, dry, old dark mustard stuck to it (like when you haven’t opened your mustard at home for the while, and a hard, dark piece comes flying out).
This obviously didn’t dry, harden & darken in the 30 minute that we spent there. What this means is that the spoon was dirty & filthy, & that these open containers go from table to table, customer to customer with the same disgusting spoon & sauce in them; & that each customer sticks their hands/fingers in there using this tiny metal spoon to scoop out the condiment & spread across their own food. Now…imagine how many customers may directly dip their egg rolls, etc. directly into the sauces, likely double dipping too. I say that to say this… These jars are way too large & too full for single use. So what this means is these open jars get refilled over & over without ever being fully emptied & cleaned…because if they were clean, how could a spoon sit inside of it & become dry, hardened & dark at the level in which the spoon sat in the sauce. I also noticed that another double container of the same condiments were sitting out uncovered & open next to the register of all places. I guess this was waiting to be passed out to the next victim that walked in the door. This is obviously a playground for various bacteria.
My daughter’s water glass also had what appeared to be a sandy grit & drip stains in it after she drank her water. When I showed the waitress this glass (whom by the way was not in any way nice, welcoming, polite, or even friendly) she attributed this to it being overly put in the dishwasher. This means that the restaurant doesn’t care enough for its customers or their own appearance to get rid of permanently stained & disgusting looking glasses. I also showed her the spoon. Her good English suddenly became iffy at best & she quickly grabbed the condiment containers & mumbled “thank you for telling me” while walking away.
There were no apologies, regrets nor compensation for this trifling-ness.
I must admit, I am a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to going to restaurants… but for exactly these types of reasons. Also the fact that I’ve worked in the back of the house in several restaurants. I’ve also watched enough of Kitchen Nightmares to know that usually restaurants with massive menus (like this place) are usually are out of control messy in the kitchen with very poor health & cleanliness standards & you are likely being served old/poor quality food. After we left this place & went to another store, I immediately took myself to the restroom & made the food come up. This is not a common practice for me at all & I don’t mean to be disgusting, but I did not want to risk any sort of foodborne illness. The local health department needs to look into this place.
The food and the service is consistently good. We learned of this restaurant while driving by and decided to try it one Sunday after church. The Koi wings are the best, as well as the soy garlic flavored wings. If we're in the area, sometimes we'll order egg drop soup to go.
I love their sushi and have been ordering from this restaurant for years. I have one complaint. I spend at least $50-100 a week at this place during my lunch break just on sushi. The manager has always been kind enough in granting me $5 off once when I forgot my coupon. 5$ off to me is not a big deal, but its the thought and gesture of good customer service.
Today, the girl at the front, which may I add was rude, did not honor my request when I told her I forgot my $5 coupon for over 35$ which expires on 10/30. She cut me off when I was speaking or trying to explain. Due to the lack of customer service (for a measly $5 off) I will NOT be ordering from Koi again.
I work in customer service and I always do my best to make the customer happy, especially when I know the customer will come back.
Word of advice: Get rid of your front desk person as she was very unprofessional and rude & that can make or break your business. Just so you know, it was the way she spoke to me that I will not be coming back, not the 5$ off.
If anyone is looking for a really GREAT sushi place with GREAT customer service, try Red Maple in Silver Spring.
Good food and nice portions. Mainly dinner sizes.
The lunch specials was great
Run away! Dont do it. If I could give it no stars I would. I found hair in my food and a piece of shrimp in my dish and I'm allergic to shellfish. Trash!
Great food. Had miso soup, koi veg roll, and chow fun with tofu. Chow fun was a bit oily but the entire meal was delicious.
The shumai I ordered tasted like the frozen ones I get from the asian supermarket. The service was so bad. The server rolled her eyes on me. Definitely not coming back again! There are other asian food restaurants who doesn’t charge as much as them and tastes so much better!!
Enjoyed the food. Did not like the fact that they charged the food and tips separately on my credit card. Which caused a fraud alert on my account!
the customer service so bad
I went there with my mom and my sister. We made a reservation before going but it wasn't too busy when we got there so we probably didn't need it. The food was really warm and fresh. I would recommend the Combination fried rice.
We love this place. We drive down from Hanover just to buy food here. Excellent Cantonese food specially their combination fried rice, orange chicken and garlic chicken.
Super quick service! Very tasty food! Lunch specials were affordable.
i love this local sushi place! i come here frequently and the food is always fresh!
The restaurant was chosen by a family member who lives nearby. The pad Thai was my favorite dish.
First visit with family. The sushi was delicious. Our food was good. The service was great. I would eat there again.
Huuum... This used to be so good! Not sure if today was just an "off day" for the kitchen or what? Even the shrimp roll appetizers didn't taste appealing -- no real taste at all. My Aunt had shrimp teriyaki, which she said was good. Her side salad with the house dressing was tasty, too. I had the Thai chicken green curry: Not particularly flavorful -- just spicey hot. And I like spices! And I like hot!! It's just that I like hot spicey food that tastes like something. Maybe today was just an off-day for the chickens...
The food was good the only thing that only problem I found is that suggested tip is not a suggestion they will force it on you to pay 20% minimum and the server wasn't that attentive the lady at the front gave us an explanation how servers are paid on tips but I also believe tips should be earned
Koi, the fancy fish living in the pond. Nice Asian authentic restaurant.
We entered within 3:15 pm and asked for lunch specials but server Amy refused, lunch specials menu time is over at 3:00 pm. We ordered regular meals with high prices excluding fried rice and egg roll. But food was good.
The food is excellent, portions very generous.broad menu, friendly servers. Popular.
Check your bill carefully! Tips are included! 20% for lunch
I love Asian food and good Asian food is hard to find. That is why I was so excited to try Koi. I stoped by on a Sunday. In the Spirt of Sunday Brunch (and since I was a party of 1) I asked to sit at the bar. To which I was told “no” I could not. Wow! Really?
Any restaurant I ever go to let’s me sit at the bar, especially if I’m by myself as to save the tables for larger parties.
What if I wanted Champagne or high end Scotch? I think they judged that I was not a big spender so I was not given proper consideration.
Once I sat at a table I was going to start slow and see how it goes (1st time trying their food). I ordered Dumplings and tea. The waitress was curt, as if I had offended her by sitting at her section and requesting so little. She tried to snatch the menus from me. I wanted to keep it because if the dumplings were good, I would order more food. I ordered steamed dumplings. When they came out the were colder than the plate- no steam. I sent them back and they still charged for the tea. What a disappointment.
Had a nice dinner, food was good and service was timely
I have only begun coming back to work recently, so I haven't been to Koi in over 3 years. I'm very glad they were able to weather the pandemic. I was hoping they'd be as good as I remembered. In fact, they were better. Excellent food, served hot and quickly, attentive service, and still low prices for the lunch specials! I will be back soon.
Food is delicious better than carryout, but prices are also higher but it's worth it
Great place to practice my chopstick skills 👍🏾 tho I must add, if you eat in, they’ll automatically add the tip to the bill so make sure to check the bill
I’m just gonna be honest and say I’m emotionally attached to this place haha
I thought my review went through a few months ago but I guess not. We ordered some lo mein but it was not disclosed that there were peanuts in it. A member of our party had an allergic reaction.
Perfect atmosphere, great food, excellent service.the front desk wouldn't get off the phone
Waitress had bad attitude.
Not happy with the service and the meal. As soon as I walked in, the waitress sees me and doesn’t even say Hi or welcome. I was left wondering what to do and I basically seated myself. I still wanted to give them a chance but then I received my order of Ramen. The absolute worst Ramen I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve tasted a lot of Ramen! The broth was so bland that it was missing any love, and the pork meat was so overcooked that it was almost inedible. Even the people seated next to me said their food was awful and they weren’t coming back. I won’t be coming back either. Not worth the money.
Great addition to the sister restaurant nearby, Siu's! The sushi menu is abundant and so is the rest of the menu, honestly. It can be overwhelming so I suggest looking at the menu before getting there. Fellas, if going on date night (which i recommend), definitely send the menu to your better half in advance 😋.
Nice place, great selection of asian foods
Love this place
Koi was clean, contemporary setting and fast courteous service. Food was flavorful and a very nice portion size. Highly recommend and will be back.
Ordered shrimp bento lunch special. Was told 10 to 15 minutes to pick it up. Got there 20 minutes after placing order and it wasn't ready. Waited 25 minutes for the food. Drove 2 minutes to my office and the food tasted cold and not fresh. And for a terriayki bento box it didn't taste like terriayki it was all peppery and oily. Not worth $16 for the wait and food taste and quality.
Slow service at lunch but food quality is outstanding
Been a loyal customer for years. Went there and got this on my avacodo salad. The sushi was foul and the tofu was chewy. It was a waste of $45 and when I called after getting home with the takeout, no one cared and no manager ever called me back. Check out the picture and decide for yourself. Any restaurant that would serve that needs to close its doors for public health reasons. I will never go back.
This place used to be my favorite restaurant, and I would visit somewhat regularly, but recently, they started serving (visibly) rotten food that I wouldn't even give to my dog. I guess they're doing this to save money by throwing out less food. Sorry, but this place is too expensive to receive food that's not even as fresh as fast food. I tried calling, but the person who answered said a manager will call me back. No one ever called. I just dont understand how food that looks like the picture with this review can leave a kitchen anywhere, let alone from a restraunt like this. I will never come back :/
If you want cold nasty Chinese/Thai food come here.
Drunken noodles had an overpowering taste of oyster sauce.
I got a side of veggies with garlic sauce and it came out cold, I asked the waitress could it be heated up and the food was never returned.
When it was time to pay i told her i was still being charged and she said oh I put it in the refrigerator. She then proceeds to bring the cold dish i asked to be heated up.
I literally took one bite of the drunken noodles and told the waiter I didn’t care for it….they said ok but of course that stayed on the bill.
Definitely $47 down the drain. Bad customer service, terrible food don’t wasted your money.
So many options! Delicious food & fantastic service.
Hot food, pretty to look at and just as tasty. Waitress was very attentive. Water was cold and I didn't have to ask for it. Bathroom was very clean. You could eat off the floor. Lol
Impressed with the food and atmosphere. Very delicious, will return.
Beautiful place inside and out. He service is good and the food is fresh and absolutely yummy 😋. Definitely a go-to spot for a special meal.
Wonderful favorite place.
The only reason I gave 4 stars is because there can be a language barrier sometimes.
I'm hooked on the shrimp and chicken Pad Thai, it's soooo good! I've been looking for a good Pad Thai for a while, thank you so much Koi Asian Cuisine for providing one.
The food was ok nothing to brag about. No flavor and loaded with pepper, I expected more flavor.
They made good cocktails.
I go here once a week while waiting for my Mom's treatment around the corner at Washington Adventist. Great place to chill and eat.
Server needs to check with their customers. So far everything is good.
Delicious Asian cuisine and great service! Our family even had Thanksgiving dinner here.
Great service great food 👍
I was very disappointed with my experience in this place. The food didn’t test fresh so I asked to exchange it. Which they did, but after doing so, the waitress was acting very rude. She even stated that “maybe Chinese food is not for us” mind you this is not our first time trying Chinese food it’s just the food here didn’t test right. And she just kept treating us rudely, loudly laughing and chitchatting with other language. We just felt very uncomfortable and we won’t ever be back again.
Salt & Pepper shrimp. Tuna tartar 😍🥰💕
Great service, excellent food portions with great taste.
The Baltimore Roll was exquisite.
The drinks were not good and cost $9. Soup came with one meal and it was awful. The teriyaki beef was too tough to chew. I told the waitress about the beef and she had no reaction. Perhaps she didn't understand. We will not return.
Tried Koi for the first and last time. We ordered beef and broccoli, Yaki soba, shrimp egg roll and bad romance roll. No flavor whatsoever in any of the dishes. Waste of time and money.
Various kinds of Asian food are served. Not sure about the authenticity buy surely tasty. Good portion too.
I called to inquire about renting a room for a private event. After waiting for two minutes for someone to pick up the phone, the hostess picked up, wouldn’t even let me finish my sentence, and told me “we’re not interested thanks” and hung up the phone on me. just say “we don’t do private parties.” There is no reason whatsoever to be that rude to someone looking to give you money.
This place has delicious food that’s reasonably priced, great options from the menu and the staff is very nice. I was looking for a place to eat while I was walking around and I’m glad I stopped and tried out this new place. The restaurant is clean and the staff wear masks when they interact with customers. It’s refreshing to know that people are taking the pandemic seriously. I’m mindful when it comes to where I go out to eat. I’ve never been a fan when it comes to eating out in crowded places. So far, when I’ve eaten at this establishment there hasn’t been a lot of people there. (Knock on wood)🤞🏽😉
Special shoutout to Lynn who works there. She’s always friendly and she makes sure that I’m comfortable and she keeps the drink refills coming. If you are in the neighborhood or you just want to venture out, give this place a try. You will not regret it.
Food was just ok. Wait staff is excellent. Very fast and helpful.
Food is always delicious and the service is always excellent.
I had lunch with a friend. We both got the shrimp/broccoli lunch special, which came with rice and an egg roll. The food was excellent! We talked for far longer than we should have, but the staff let us be. Highly recommend!
