However, I ordered a rib tip soup and it was the most disgusting soup I've tasted (and believe me that I've tried some disgusting soups in my life). The soup was extremely acidic, it was like a lemon soup. Not even my lemonades are that acidic. The ribs were fine, but I really couldn't eat this, it was very bad. I asked the waiter and she said it was supposed to be like that, but I'm pretty sure there was a problem.
Anyhow, I had to get some pot stickers to not starve and they were very good.
So giving this place a three overall for now.

In a city with so many great Thai restaurants, the unassuming Cilantro stands out. I don’t know what they do, but the Papaya salad that much more flavorful and fresh. The curry that much more savory. The mussel pancake that much more light and crispy. And afterwards, a quick hop across the street to the wonderful Devon market.

Foods are delicious, kind of authentic, not sweet like other places. $$ just keep in mind, but worth it. Atmosphere is not so much; it is small place. If you like spicy, medium spicy is perfect since very spicy is 🌶️🌶️🌶️ We ordered papaya salad, Thai sausages, dried glass noodle with special sauce ( l cannot recall the name) and mango sticky rice. I highly recommended this place🍾

Crappy service!

Customer service sucks and let me say if you order for pick up try your food there, check your food there. They will not compensate you for their mistakes. I will never eat here again. Too many mistakes and too little accountability!

I have ordered from here a lot of times and the food is sometime great but the customer service is just so iffy.
I never dine in but do pick up and many time the order is not correct but I never say anything cause they might be busy.

I order beef at all times. On the fifth of January I ordered beef pad woonsen , nontok beef and spring rolls. First of the gave me pork. (I do not eat pork, have not eaten pork in over 10 years.
They offered me a to make my order a next time. I came in and placed my order and bought something else and they refused to give me my meal which they messed up.

I will never be back because of how that lady spoke to me. They were just plain flat out wrong . She is telling me that she can only give me a partial refund. I didn't eat the wrong order. So I wasted my money. Only eat in . If you are ordering for take out check your meal first before leaving!!

The food is good but I will never dine in again. Every time I’ve been in the dining room, there has been a precocious young girl either watching a video at full volume or bouncing from table to table, essentially demanding attention from the diners. I don’t expect to babysit when I go out to eat. I know this will rub people the wrong way but I can’t enjoy my meal in that environment.

There are so unprofessional and rude and the food is mid level. They pretend like they make it fresh but everything is already premade. Noodles are also soggy; I guess from sitting all day from being premade.

AMAZING food (we got the crispy pad thai, the duck curry, the appetizer platter, and pork belly app amongst other dishes) but also great service!! I left my bag overnight accidentally and they kept it safe for me until I stopped by the next day to pick it up. Lovely people.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! You must have a go-to Thai place and this is it for me. The Thai iced coffee, the Thai iced tea, the crab rangoon and EVERY dish I've ever had here is so fresh and tasty.

This place is my go to Thai restaurant. I have gotten takeout here countless times and I’ve never been disappointed. They are extremely consistent. I know I’m getting good food every time and have never had a bad experience.

We went for the spicy basil chicken over rice buy one get one free but when we got there we were told that is a take out special only. How weird. Nothing said it was take out only.

We ordered the Massaman curry with chicken and mixed vegetables with shrimp.
The curry was fair/ good but the portion was super stingy. The mixed vegetables with shrimp dish was even worse. I'm not sure if there more than 4 shrimp maybe 5 and such a SMALL portion of vegetables. $40 later for 2 entrees and we left hungry.

We don't suggest this Thai restaurant.

I love this place and the food
Been going to this place with my coworkers since one year because it’s close to my workplace but recently I been experiencing few stuff since that worker who works on Monday started working she’s a little shubby tall wear mostly black shirt, she’s extremely rude and she calls out infront of whole restaurant if me or my coworker gets up to even get chopsticks
One day she was doing something on computer and I didn’t wanted to disturb her so I calmly got up and reach to chopsticks when she saw me and told me get back to my seat I was very embarrassed because there was Atleast 6 7 people was in restaurant and she was very loud. The other girls who’s skinny and short she’s very nice and adorable she makes me feel welcome and always smiling with no attitude but I’m so disheartened that I wouldnt be coming on days that this rude reception lady working. I’m also in customer service, we work so many hours and come to this place for lunch almost 3-4 times in a week so we want to feel welcome instead of being burdened and treated badly. Please be considerate if you can’t don’t work in this field and make other person day bad. Thank you

My friend and I went to Cilantro for dinner tonight for the special listed at their website, Spicy Basil Over Rice, buy one get one free. We were told when we got there that was special was carryout only although I called on Wednesday to find out the details on the special and was told that we could dine in and have sliced chicken instead of ground. I conveyed this to the waiter and the cook as well that this was what I was told on Wednesday and they refused to serve our order of sliced chicken instead of ground and allow us to dine in restaurant. No wonder they're hurting for business. I don't expect for them to be in business much longer.

This place is the best. Family run independent and food quality and serving size is excellent. I’ve been to Thailand a few times and this is closest to authentic I have ever found. Also they understand what “spicy” means (say “thai spicy” if you dare) and enjoy!

In theory - I should really love this place. The food is tasty. The service is great. And the portions are fair.

There is one point my partner and I can’t get past which is the consistency of the spice levels in the noodle dishes (the green curry was wonderful).

We’ve eaten in house once, and ordered three times. The mild had zero spice and the medium has ranged from zero spice (when we ate in house) to extremely spicy (when we’ve ordered takeout.) The dishes we ordered were the same.

We both have a considerable spice tolerance and have never had this issue at a restaurant - Thai or otherwise.

Unfortunately, it appears there isn’t an ‘in between’ spice level we can order at this establishment that will optimize the enjoyment of our food despite it being otherwise tasty and high quality, and the staff being absolutely lovely.

Hopefully other folks don’t run into the same issue.

In terms of atmosphere it’s a cute small place, not much happening in terms of atmosphere. The food on the other hand was amazing, and I don’t say that lightly. I got the duck curry, and it was fantastic, the flavors had such depth it was great until the last drop. 10/10 will be back, highly recommend.

Saw 4.5 stars rating and expected good food, very disappointed. We arrived at 7pm on Friday night and there were 5 people inside. The curry I ordered had a weird taste that I can’t describe, maybe nutmeg? My friend ordered papaya salad that tasted of MSG, the Thai sausage also tasted weird. The only tasty dish was the teriyaki beef however the texture of the beef was very tough and chewy. The waitress was nice .

Was unsure at first after reading mixed reviews, but this is now probably the top Thai food spot in my book (at least for the area). Food is delicious and met or exceeded flavor expectations in everything we've tried. Had both done in and carry out and very happy.

Cilantro is a great Thai restaurant on the North Side with plenty of menu options. I had the Drunken Noodles and my date had Pad Thai. Both were good.

We shared sticky rice with Thai custard for dessert which was subtly sweet and good.

This restaurant is perfect for lunch, an affordable date or an introduction to Thai cuisine.

Ordered online, and the food was phenomenal. The cuisine is on point and not westernized. There are many options, and spiciness can be chosen from mild to hot. I always received my food steaming and fresh. Loved it!

My second time. Had to go back after such an awesome experience the first time. Do not judge what you are about to experience by the understated exterior/interior decor of this small eatery.

This time I made sure to go back with a foodie friend on a Sunday afternoon. We had the delectable tamarind chicken wings, chicken pad thai and spicy duck with basil which comes with a side of rice. We also ordered the green curry with chicken to go. Everything is served plated nicely on bamboo wooden rectangular platters. The wings are simply to die for and are truly "finger-lickin-good"! The sweet, tangy and spicy tamarind sauce is tantalizing, simply amazing. Basically this is what established the food memory for me and made mo go back a second time! The pad thai was just as good as I remember it from last time, although for those of you who can handle some heat, I recommend the medium spicy version that I ordered last time. The spicy duck with basil was another classy preparation. Duck is not an easy meat to to cook well and they hit this out of the park. My compliments to the chef. This place never disappoints!!

Green curry had no eggplant. The chef this evening was too untested all green peppers, jalapenos, curd in coconut milk was not rich soothing flavors. The worst part is hot green curry in plastic container which research shows causes cancer when specifically said no plastic containers. The large oriental paper box is preferred such as the rice comes inside. It was a total waste of good money. There needs to be half portions for half the money. How else to know if order a full entree portion. There are much better thai cooks on the same street.

This has become one of my favorite restaurants, if not my go-to restaurant, on a weekly basis. The food is amazing and has great portion sizes. Never left hungry. They also have 3 different spiciness levels (medium has a solid kick imo). They also have in-house lunch specials that are a great option. They also have a rewards card as well.

We’ve ordered from Cilantro Thai a few times, it’s very good. Online menu is updated and pretty easy to use. I recommend the bbq pork pad Thai. It has a nice crunch and good flavor. We had the basil chicken which was also good - lots of veggies. Mixed it all with brown rice so it’s a bit healthier. We’ll definitely order here again.

I’ve tried a lot of Thai restaurants in the neighborhood and Cilantro has become my go to. The crab rangoon are some of the best that I’ve ever had. I tried the Yum Woon Sen last night, it was sooooo good and spicy. I love this place and keep coming back!

I love thai and was trying to locate a place that had good reviews. The food was flavorful. Just the right amount of season. I didn't need to add anything! On my first visit I started off with the cilantro platter & was given 2 different sauces. The sauces were delicious but not really needed. I tried the mixed vegetable dish, spicy basil with egg, and my favorite, drunken noodle. Was not disappointed with any of these. However, I have to say the portions were somewhat small. But if you're looking for good taste; this is the place.

Omg, we have been looking for a new Thai restaurant since moving away from Star of Siam in river north and after Thai Room in north center closed. This place is DELICIOUS, even after being delivered 3 mi away. We had the chive dumplings, basil beef rice w egg and cilantro chicken special. Everything was so fresh and seasoned to perfect, not at all greasy like a lot of Thai places can be. Highly recommend.

Good food. I've not had a bad meal there. No complaints. Seems like they do a lot of carry out business, but in can dine in. Fair priced menu. Certainly a winner.

my partner and i live very close to this place and it was SO TASTY, it was a little warm in there but the server was so kind and tried to accommodate us (it’s also just a really hot day) i ordered a thai tea and it was exactly what i wanted. we also ordered the yum woon sen salad and the fresh rolls. the flavors are everything i’ve been looking for since newly moving here! we’re excited to come back in the evening or on a day when it’s cooler out. yay! our new neighborhood thai spot <3

This is a great little Thai spot! I highly recommend giving it a shot: friendly service and delicious food. I would recommend the spicy eggplant and mushroom dish which is a wonderful vegetarian option. Pad see ew and pepper steak were also great. I will definitely come again!

Just poor in every respect. 35 minutes late. Woman on phone couldn't even converse in English. Food was almost inedible. Pork belly was like wood chips. Never again.

My wife and I were craving some Thai Food and we saw this place was fairly new and close to where we were so we decided to give it a shot. The server was extremely sweet and welcoming the moment we walked into the door. Which is always a plus for me. Hospitality is important.

We placed our orders and waited… and waited… and waited… luckily we were in some great topics of discussion but the wait was taking too long. The sweet server returned and after I asked her if everything was okay she said they made a mistake on my wife’s order. THAT’S TOTALLY OKAY! Just let us know ves having us wait forever.

Anyway, the food was great! The service was sweet, would def return.

Went there for lunch this afternoon (Monday in August) with my kids. Mixed experience, not the worst Thai food I've ever had, but far from the best. Some thoughts:
Pros: The interior was clean and inviting, and the staff was quite friendly, all in all a pleasant place to pass the time. The lunch specials (at about $10) are pretty reasonably priced and decent portions. I ordered the drunken noodles, a personal favorite, and was impressed with the taste and heat level. If I had just ordered the drunken noodles, I would have definitely given the place 5 stars. Also the veggie spring rolls were solid.
Cons: My sons ordered the pad Thai and curried fried rice lunch specials. The curried fried rice was okay, but nothing special; I was hoping for more vegetables or complex flavors, but it mostly seemed to be rice and onions fried in commercial chili powder. The pad Thai was weird and the flavor wasn't at all what I am used to. It was weirdly goopy and sweet and not spicy, and-- well, honestly I don't know what spices you're supposed to put into pad Thai to make it taste like pad Thai (that's why I go out to Thai restaurants instead of cooking at home)-- but whatever spices those are, they seemed to be missing from this pad Thai. We ate about half of it, and neither of my kids wanted to package up the leftovers to bring home (which if you know my kids is a serious thumbs down).

So, in sum: avoid the pad Thai, get the drunken noodles. If I was in Chicago looking for Thai food, I would probably keep searching for that perfect spot, because this was all in all just "pretty good."

My favorite neighborhood thai place. Always have to have the moo ping for an appetizer. That marinated pork skewer is tender and grilled perfectly. Their papaya salads are fresh with a spicy kick that is flavorful without being painful. Great lunch special too.

I tried the Drunken Noodles, Pad Garlic, and shrimp in the blanket. Everything was delicious and food temperature was hot when we brought it home. We decided to call in the order and choose carry-out. Street parking was really easy.

I have yet to eat any Pad Thai I like more than here. Any time I eat Pad Thai elsewhere, it doesn't compare. Good food and wonderful service.
