With a vision to create the BEST Thai restaurant in Chicago, Amarit Thai and Sushi opened its doors focusing on high-quality Thai cuisine. It’s both the expertise and the cuisine that make Amarit Thai different. Our menu offers a blend of fusion – incorporating more traditional dishes that are less spicy.
We were the first ones to offer sushi with smaller (half) rolls to help customers expand their palette while keeping the price and flavors accessible. Our ambience exudes a fusion of traditional yet modern Thai vibes. The interiors are decked up with traditional Thai artwork but a little more modern seating, lighting, plating, and presentation.
This is a great Thai restaurant, and I'm particular about my Thai. While visiting Chicago, my wife and I stumbled upon Amarit and were pleasantly surprised with the selections and overall flavor. The fried mixed vegetables are a must-try! We will be returning on our next weekend getaway to the Chi.
The food is very good- maybe the best Thai in the area. Their Panang curry chicken only comes with chicken- veggies are extra. This is the only restaurant I’ve seen that.
We’ve always done takeout in part b/c there is almost no one ever eating there. The back half of the restaurant appears blocked off. Not sure how they could fix this but would be nice to see more people there. Takeout service is quick though which is always nice.
Been coming here for years but recently they’ve really improved their food. Go to order is the hot fried curry with shrimp, pad thai with chicken, Tom yum soup with shrimp, and an order of spicy tuna maki. Today, they were amazing, usually good, but today it was so well prepared we almost wanted to go back and order more. So much shrimp and chicken in both main dishes also there were plenty shrimps in one order of the tom yum soup…amazing! Wonderful food, we also always eat to go so we can’t say anything about service or atmosphere. Regardless, food tastes amazing especially today. Much improved from previous years.
I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Printer's Row. We weren't planning on going anywhere for lunch, so this was a spur of the moment decision, and boy was it worth it!
The atmosphere isn't anything spectacular. Kind of your typical mom and pop place, which is not a bad thing!! Just not a place if you're trying to get wowed by their decor or anything.
We only ordered two entrees but they were SO flavorful and delicious! I got the Pad See Eiw and my boyfriend got the Panang Curry. If you like Curry chicken, you have to try this. The amount of different flavors and spices you get from this dish is amazing. It has a slight kick to it, so if you also like spicy you'll love this.
The owners are very sweet people, and so hospitable. Highly recommend this hidden gem if you're in the area :)
(Also, this is definitely a place I would order from for takeout for a hangover cure 😆)
I haven't had any opportunity to visit this location in years but my server (the owner) gently reminded me of her previous location in Chicago's Coast on Dearborn Street and immediately my memory was jarred.
This particular location is convenient if you live in Printer's Row (South Loop) and the menu is diverse featuring traditional Thai curry dishes, noodle 🍜 entrees, wonderful soup 🍲 and various seafood options including sushi 🍣 and sashimi.
I chose the seafood soup which is primarily broth, mushrooms, mussels, shrimp, squid 🐙 and a variety of onions 🌰 and lemongrass. If you're not feeling well I highly recommend you order their specialty soups because you'll instantly feel better because of all the ginger and other herbs used that make these broths so flavorful.
Another must is ordering the Thai ice tea 🍵 and Thai iced coffee ☕ it's one of the best in Chicago and tasty like a dessert.
The restaurant itself is cozy and laid back with plenty of booths by the window if you enjoy people watching.
I remember visiting here in the summer years ago and enjoying outdoor patio seating so I hope 🙏 they bring that back this summer so I can relax outside with my mountain dog 🐕
If you love Thai cuisine in a non fussy and relaxed setting you will definitely appreciate this independently owned family restaurant.

ATROCIOUS. This is not Thai food. The golden chicken was Hard and dry. The Basil chicken lacked Basil! Do not eat here.

Wish I would have known of this place sooner. Right around the corner from our hotel and great food. Lots of flavor and really hit the spot. Will def go again when we return to Chicago.
Espectacular 👌 comida sencilla pero con gran sabor
Entree meal portions were HUGE and the taste was okay, it was better than most places but not excessively better. It was a nice experience but i’m not sure if i’d go back since it’s so expensive and could be easily replaced. Consider tipping 10% and + or they’ll you attitude 😉
Ate here a little while ago. It was fine, but since then my phone has been spammed with their ads from unknown numbers
Un buen ambiente . La atención muy buena . La comida deliciosa
Amazing food. I get catering all the time and they never disappoint!!
The staff was very attentive and kind. The restaurant was nicely set up but the food was...ok and nothing special. I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
A restaurant tells all the tales through the restroom. And I have visited the restroom and have low low expectations…..
The food good, service good but why only one person at 7pm on a Saturday? Glad we were here before she had 9 tables and the walk ins and Uber Eats pickips..
Amazing food, we got shrimp and chicken mango fried rice, and it was delicious. I got the dynamite maki, and it’s now one of my favorite rolls. All the food we got was amazing and it was a great experience from our server as well.
Great spot! I ordered something off-menu and the host communicated my request clearly to the chef who made it without batting an eye. He even came out to confirm it with me. The food was delicious. Please patronize these folks!
Food was great! We loved the pad see ew, and the ambiance was very nice.
This is the closest to the food in Thailand that I've been able to find in the states! The Khao Soi was great!

Have been here multiple times and the food is always delicious. Tastes like authentic Thai food and definitely worth checking out.
Food was Ok. No fresh limes and no fresh hot peppers, pineapples in dishes were also canned pineapple.
Had dinner here the other day and it was delicious.
we loved it. we'll be back!
Yummy! They will prepare the dishes vegan style, just ask.
Excellent original Thai at reasonable price. Duck was awesome!
Real nice place the atmosphere is incredible
Liebloses Essen, schmeckte nicht gerade gut. Eine kleinere Karte und dafür etwas raffinierter zubereitet wäre mein Tipp.
Popped in for a quick snack. Service was fast, considerate and friendly. Good was good. I was really happy.
Took food to go. The crab rangoons were very good, but they were not served with sweet & sour sauce. Instead, it was served with a hot sauce. The shrimp fried rice & pineapple fried rice were good.
Ne venez pas manger ici, la serveuse manque d’éducation et ose crier sur les clients.
Delicious!!!
Excellent food!
Delicious and reasonably priced!
If you like Thai food this restaurant will make you happy!
Lived in the area for years but never heard of this place, I guess I’ve walked by it a few times but it never stuck out to me. Stopped in on a whim, very quiet inside, but the service and food were AMAZING! Staff is very friendly, food came out in under five minutes, and the curries are TO DIE FOR! Can’t wait to go back. Amirit needs better advertising…this place would be the hottest spot in printers row!
Cute, quiet little place with great food and great music playlist if you’re a millennial!! Will definitely go back.
Great Thai food! Highly recommend Mango and sticky rice for dessert
Great little place, I didn't book just walked in. Food was well priced and tasty. Got a Thai green curry and a noodle dish, both were great
The staff taking order is rude, although the food portion is big, it is just mediocre
We love Amarit on Printer’s Row!! The service is great when you dine in, they’re friendly and make great recommendations. Their delivery is also reliable and prompt, plus the food is fresh and hot!
Great food at low price and great service
The Tom Kha Kai soup is one of the best soups I have ever tasted. The broth has a buttery lemon-coconut gingery flavor that was wonderful on a cold day. I could not stop eating it even though they brought me a huge bowl! Great service too!!!
Don't waste your time for this place.
The Tom Ka soup and catfish curry was wonderful!!!! Love this place!
Very tasty and fresh food, excellent service

Excellent and genuine Thai Food. Fresh ingredients and awesome staff. A must if you like Thai food.
The worst sushi roll I've ever eaten. Plus I had to send it back 2 times because it was made wrong twice. I finally accepted my fate and begrudgingly ate it because the restaurant was next door to the hotel and it was raining outside. The server admitted it was made wrong yet refused to remove it from my bill. Horrible experience!
Ordered catering for group dinner. Flavorful entrees that were generously portioned. Kids loved the shrimp pad Thai and I want to put the chili sauce on everything. Looking forward to ordering Amarit for self or group in the future.
My husband and I were on a hunt for a good Thai place and we found it ! The food was delicious ! We got an order of the crab Rangoon , chicken satay and chicken pad Thai noodles amazing ! The price was very reasonable . Will def be our to go spot !
Amazing flavorful food!
Little hidden gem in the south loop.
Très bon petit resto. On est allés 2 fois. Très bonne nourriture, très bonne portion, très bon prix. Le personnel est très gentil.
Delicious Thai food and great service
I ordered pakheemo(Drunken Noodle) like I normally do most times.I normally get it with the chili sauce w/o asking. Not only did I not get my chili sauce but my food was NOT that great this time. Usually they have the best food. Not this time.
Good place, Good food , Good service
flavor like thai original
Good and quick service and really amazing food. I will definitely be going back and recommend for great Thai food.
I would never go to this place again. Not sure why this is rated 4.1, the food being mediocre at best and service is horrible. We ordered “veggie” rolls and had to return the order back *3 times* because we found shrimp in them. The first time we reported, their attitude was so flippant, and when we called them to confirm if this was really veggie the third time, the person offered a backhand apology with a prayer gesture. To top all of this they added a 20% gratuity for 4 ppl on the check! Surprised they’re still in business.
this is some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten
Food has gone downhill. Used to be much better a few years ago
An unspectacular Thai and sushi place (why both?) with downtown prices.
Was in town for the weekend, dropped in for lunch. Highly recommended, the best Tom Yum Soup I’ve ever tasted. Followed up by perfect garlic and pepper chicken. Trust me you won’t be disappointed!!
Cozy place with great affordable food.
Pepper steak was salty.
I visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening for dinner. When I entered the restaurant, the staff seemed rather uninterested to serve me. The waitress was unfriendly and the food was absolutely mediocre. I will not visit this place again.
I have been coming here for many years. The service and food have always been very good. I typically order the same thing, which is always excellent so I don’t have a lot to compare to, but anytime I dine-in with friends/family they’re always satisfied. To sum up, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that’s looking for a good Thai restaurant in the Printers Row, South Loop of Chicago.
The food was excellent, the portions generous, and I think very reasonably priced!
I haven't had any opportunity to visit this location in years but my server (the owner) gently reminded me of her previous location in Chicago's Coast on Dearborn Street and immediately my memory was jarred.

Very fresh sushi, nice service.
The best thing I loved about this restaurant and also different form any other is their food were less salted. You may find it lame but it’s rare. You can actually taste food not salt. Love it.
Hot fried curry chicken wasn’t so great , but I did like mango and sticky rice
Very average place, tom yum soup was okay, pangang curry didn't taste like pangang at all.. I wouldn't recommend this place for sure. Not coming back.
Huge portions. This is my second time eating here. My only criticism is that their delicious soups only come in the largest size, so if you want a cup of soup with your entree, be prepared to split the soup with other people. I had pad Thai this time. They use the thinner rice noodles for it. I could only eat half because the portion was so huge.
Take out for pad Thai and sushi. Pad Thai was very average and not very flavorful. The portion sizes were huge but food was very bland. I would not go back.
Sushi was scrumptious and to go order was quick.
Long-standing south loop option for both Thai and sushi, their spice levels are spot-on and portion sizes generous.
Food was very good and service was very attentive.
I just think the restaurant needs to be cleaned. The table was a little sticky and there was a strong smell when you walk in.
Great food! I ordered sticky rice, tomtum soup (veggie and it was so good), eggrolls.
While the portions are large, food here is mediocre at best.
Best Thai Tea!
Food was okay but service is subpar. The guy behind the counter didn’t even acknowledge us when we first got in. One server and she sat at a booth for a very long time. Looked annoyed when we needed a few more minutes to order. We wanted to get a box when had some food leftover and she made it seem like a chore to get us the box we would pack ourselves. Won’t be coming back.
Delicious, quality Thai food, love this place! The service is excellent for sit down or takeout and the prices are reasonable with nice size portions. I highly recommend Amarit Thai and sushi restaurant, check it out!!
Thai restaurants are not something that I would go to on normal occasions, but since I am starving, I came here, especially because this is the nearest restaurant that I can go to instantly. So, I ordered the Shrimp Pad Khee Mao, and it was so satisfying and fulfilling. It was so flavorful, it was spicy, and it had a generous potion. It has a great balance and a bright and mouthwatering presentation. I also had the fried banana, which was good as well. This place looks so modern to me, and I felt comfortable and peaceful when I was here. The place is also clean, and everything seemed organized. I would love to visit here again some other time. This place is definitely a go-to place for some comfort foods.
This restaurant has always been my friends and my go-to place for delicious Thai food provided with excellent service. Recently, my phone slipped out of my purse in the restaurant, and our amazing waitperson ran over 2 blocks on a very cold afternoon to catch up to our group, and all she could say was how happy she was to catch us. Such kindness is definitely going above and beyond!
10/13/22 went to this restaurant. The restaurant was empty when my friend and I came in. The waitress was not engaged, looked bored and annoyed. She barely came by and I got up from my seat to order more food. As my friend and I got to the end of our meal, more customers came in.
When it came to pay the check we decided not to tip (the line is an option and the service was just not there. We tip depending on the service). The waitress was in the middle of taking a customers order when she stopped and flagged us down that we did not leave a tip. My friend left a $3.00 tip after she made a scene, a couple days later there was an additional $10.00 charged. This lady processed $13.00 tip for herself. The fact that she stopped taking an order to check tip. She must be down bad.
IT IS NOT OKAY FOR THE WAITRESS TO PROCESS AN UNAUTHORIZED TIP TRANSACTION
Sushi was delicious. Prices are very fair considering their location as well. Will definitely be coming back.
The food was very tasty.I do recommend this place for meal.
The food was decent but the server was rude. First she refused our request to sit by the window, even though we were the only customer at that time. We were fine as we respected the restaurant’s arrangement.
Then when it comes to ordering food, she asked if we wanted to share food with each other. My friend was confused so i explained what it meant for her. The server became impatient and frustrated at us. This made us so uncomfortable that we finished ordering as soon as possible to not further upset her.
Finally, after we paid, she came to check the tip amount we left on the receipt and complained that the tip was too little and directly demanded we tipped more. I was shocked. Not sure i will come back after this experience.
I got takeout from here and the portions they give you are great for the price! Quality of food is hit or miss depending on what you order… (see below)
Chicken Pad Thai was solid, fried rice was ok (good enough), and the orange chicken was straight up BAD. Chicken was dry and chewy (was that chicken..?) and had no orange flavor whatsoever. It came with some sauce cups but they were basically just a spicy vinegar (not sure if that was for the chicken or the other two dishes because it certainly wasn’t your typical orange sauce).
I will be back for more Pad Thai, and probably fried rice, but definitely not the orange chicken… yikes.
Ordered Massaman curry, drunken noodles, and pad thai. Massaman was good and so were the drunken noodles. DO NOT ORDER THE PAD THAI! It was not good at all.
I had a reservation and was able to be seated immediately. The service and food were really good; our wait time was reasonable and our server was quick to take our used dishes and refill our water. They also have a nice variety of food options so most can find something appealing.
Merely ok. Not terrible. Not great. I had planned on dinner here but left after a couple uninteresting not very tasty sushi dishes. Location a bit industrial. I’d skip this place in future. I came early. There was no one there.
First and foremost the server is very impressive. With that said, there is/was only one.
This did not impact the experience at all
The food:
Crab Rangoon: at first I thought that maybe this isn’t good, then I had more. This was very good and filling.
Udon soup shrimp/vegetable : flavorful soup and perfectly fried vegetables and shrimp
Pad see eiw: this was good as well, could use more flavor/spice
California roll and Godzilla roll: filling and good
Price was reasonable as well
Soup and crab pictured below
nothing bad about the food, but nothing wonderful about it either. google had indicated that they had outdoor tables, which they do not. what wasn't ok, however, was a more than 20% gratuity automatically added to the check for a party of 5. not ok.
Just really really rude customer service. Argumentative about tip. Food not that good.
Nice easy accessibile restaurant Food was very good. Especially the appetizers.
Wonderful place! I’ve had the spicy basil and beef, beef curry, and Pad Thai many times. Portions are generous, and the quality is consistent. The wait staff is super courteous and attentive; my water is never left empty.
Excellent food and amazing service. If you are a Thai food lover, visit this place. It’s near to all major chicago attractions.
Tired venue, food ok not amazing, also serves sushi which is bit odd for a Thai restaurant
The drunken noodle was absolutely wonderful. The sweet basil really balances out the spicy and savory elements of the dish with a much needed sweetness.
The food was very bland and is definitely not authentic Thai food. It was very overpriced as well for sub par dishes.
I ordered to go and when I got there I changed my mind and wanted to sit and eat. I would have ordered a drink and tipped my server, but the manager was very rude about it. Told me I wasn't allowed to dine in. Despite the dining area being over half empty. Food was also average and expensive. Won't be going back.
The décor was classic Asian style coziness. You are greeted by a wall of wines and sakes as you step into the lobby and the kind staff will welcome you right away. I ate here with a group of friends for dinner and we all enjoyed our meals. The food had amazing taste with every bite making you want to try even more choices from the menu.
I had the Shrimp and vegetable tempura, the Pink Lady sushi, and the Crying Tiger steak for my entrée. The appetizers were textbook standards of what every tempura and sushi should taste like. The Crying Tiger steak had a spicy soy sauce with it, perfect for cutting through some of the richness of the marinade. All the food was made incredibly well and left me entirely stuffed, but also wishing I could try more items off the menu. One of my friends had the Penang curry and let me tell you, absolutely phenomenal! If you are in the mood for Asian food, come here, enjoy the atmosphere and savor every bite!
Came here yesterday for the first time. Small place.. There were a couple people that came in. There was only one waiter. He was still attentive and did the best he could juggling 5 tables by himself. They need to hire more people.
Always great food!
Nice neighborhood Thai Restaurant with all the favorites you expect, tasting about what you expect. It's nice to know that typical Thai places have food that's consistent. I don't think the Chinese and Indian places are this consistent in terms of flavor and for that I am grateful!!
I spent $71.00 for two people is too much. The food was not good 😐. When I am in Chicago again I will never come to this place again
the food was too oily and the place was dead empty the 3 times we went there. they have a big menu but a lot of the items taste similar with minor changes. the place is affordable but I wouldn't go there again
The food was good. I would recommend pineapple shrimp curry. I came to eat 3 days consecutively. On the firts 2 days, the male server was nice and kind. On my last visit, I had the female server. She was unhappy; she probably had a bad day, maybe?! But I did not feel welcomed. She brought 2 ice water. when i asked for a warm cup of water instead becasause it was cold in chicago. She walked away without even saying a word (but she still brought me warm water though). I did not know if she had a bad day or what, but definitely did not want to deal with her attitude.
Stellar deliverance by the delivery guy. The food is generous and filling and they arrived 10 minutes earlier than expected. Crab 🦀 rangoons were crispiiiii 👌
Love this place! Highly recommended!
Just ordered on Uber eats, the chicken teriyaki was disgusting, had the texture of leather. Beef gailan looked and tasted like something out of a babies diaper. Chicken noodle soup tasted like they gave a chicken a bath and used the old bathwater as their soup. Only thing that was edible was the edamame
Vegetarian dish had shrimp on it, dish ordered as spicy was sweet with no heat at all, rice dish had a hair in it, when i contacted the restaurant they would not respond.
Great food, service was a little slow even while they were at a quiet time, server was friendly
Wonderful!!! The food here are delicious
Slow delivery, bad quality once it finally arrived. Order elsewhere, there are much better Thai restaurants in Chicago.
Small place but food was good
Food was good, service was okay and fast but not at all engaging.
We ordered pad thai, chicken curry and duck curry, were delicious. Spring rolls were not good, sweetness was overpowering. Maki was good.
Owner looked in a hurry with everything, with ordering, wrapping up etc. No WiFi.
Would recommend this place for food if you're in the area!
The Beef Pad Thai is superb!
The food was very good, but the bathrooms need attention. Not very clean, no hand dryer or paper towels. Otherwise I would have given 4 stars.
Went to eat they .. first time cause I really like Thai food. After leaving my stomach didn't feel right. I've been in the wash room all night .... Food look good. But something was off . I'm sick . I didn't eat anything this day but there food so don't know maybe food the dishes I bought ?? But I've been in the washroom all night ..
Excellent Pad Kee Mao vegetarian. Also available with chicken or shrimp. Egg roll and shrimp dumplings good too! Quick service in a casual setting. Conveniently located just a block from Harrison station.
If you are looking for good Thai food without any bells and whistles .. this is the place to go.. authentic food.. authentic taste.. good portion size and fast service.. I read all the reviews and tried this place and must say this is definitely a place to try if you are fond of thai food.. keep up the good work Amarit Thai restaurant
Found this place randomly while visiting the city. I'm sure the food is good, but that's not why I'm giving it a 5 star review. It's getting a 5 star review solely for letting me duck in and use the bathroom after the Chicago Marathon, when more than a few places' bathrooms were conveniently out of service.
Very cute little restaurant. Great for a quiet dinner. Service was excellent and efficient. Our waiter gave great insight on the menu. Very decently priced for the city! Would recommend to everyone!!
Had lunch here for work one day, so much good food
Dishes are way smaller than other places I been to of the same cuisine. Food is decent tasting but not spectacular, okay place if you’re hungry and there’s better else around. Orange chicken is not like regular orange chicken at other places.
