Unassuming nook offering a wide selection of Thai classics for dine-in, takeaway or delivery.
Stay away. This place has terrible Thai food, it’s more like carry out imitation Thai food. I ordered crispy basil chicken and first it wasn’t crispy it was soggy. I can tell they made the dish with frozen low quality tenders or something. It tasted like they cooked it then froze it and re heated it had the freezer burn taste to it. We need some better Thai food with good service.
Their green curry is now one of my favorites, the spice level is excellent. The dish would have been perfect if the sauce wasn't so thin like they made it the day before and if they would have left out the red pepper(this flavor over powers everything in a VERY bad way!) When I ordered I asked for NO PEPPERS IN MY FOOD.
The pad see ew, didn't have the proper searing on the noodles and lacked sauce. Big ball of dry noodles.
Crab Fried rice was great! Except they loaded it with(you guessed it) red peppers! The person who ordered this loved it and so did I, they just put way too many peppers on this dish. It took away from the sweetness of the crab.
The chicken satay was juicey and tender! The peanut sauce was great!
The mango lemonade was so good!
Ordered extra veggies in my drunken noodles and got 4 pieces of broccoli. Bland greasy food that tastes like cheap take out food.
This is not a dine in place. They still have it set up like Covid where it’s blocked off and you order through a glass partition.
They are a little pricey but you get huge portions. My food was delicious. I got Jumbo shrimp rolls. And I believe the entree dish I got was called Thai fried rice. with crabmeat, chicken, shrimp, and veggies.
Love the Thai green curry. If you’re looking for authentic Thai food this is one spot in the DMV. Not a place to park but Carryout is spot on.
Rice noodle soup with shrimp and chicken was amazing 🤩

Great place 👍
The Pad Seewe was watery and had no flavor. The dumplings had a weird taste and after taste. Even with asking for spice to be added the noodles had no flavor at all. I think the pound of broccoli added made it watery because when I took a bite, my mouth flooded with water. This was disappointing because they have a high rating so I was expecting a delicious meal. I wouldn’t recommend nor will I be back.
Three words: Salmon Fried Rice. You’re welcome.
I'm loyal to this place. The only place in SE DC that makes delicious real Thai food. They cater to my food intolerance and allergies.
Boba is excellent. I have yet to try the food but it looks good.
Friendly service. Quiet atmosphere. Very clean. Food is outstanding. Bon appetite
IYKYK. If you know you know
So far, so good. About 15 orders in, and they have only missed one time when I ordered the fried rice with salmon and for the mounds of rice I got, the salmon was very tiny. I just stick to the drunken noodles or drunken spaghetti with salmon. You can choose your own protein with all their dishes (chicken, shrimp, salmon etc). I wonder if I can get the pineapple rice with salmon instead of chicken, hmmm. I usually get delivery through Uber Eats but did do a pickup order once and the people were pretty nice and helpful and you can park in the alley next to the building for a quick run in to pick up. Don't forget the fried banana with honey for desert!
THE BEST THAI FOOD IN THE DMV AREA 🎯💪🏿💯🥰💋
I was at the beauty supply next door. The sign said they opened at 11am I went to open the door and it was locked. I looked at the time and it was 11:12am. There was an older Asian woman mopping the floor. I tried to make eye contact and knocked on the door to get her attention. She finally looked up and saw me but continued mopping. She finally came to the door and I tried to step in but she blocked the entry. I said I'm sorry the sign says you open at 11am? She looked at me and said yes but I'm still cleaning and closed the door in my face. I was so shocked I just stood there staring while she continued wiping down tables and not looking up at me. Terrible customer service! She could have asked what my order was and said to wait outside which I would have done but the way this was handled was unnacceptable!
This is my go to Thai restaurant. I have patronized this spot for years and I continue to return even after moving further away. The food is always promptly prepared. It is also consistently prepared; we all know that food quality tends to vary depending on day and time of day. I have yet to have a bad experience or a wrong order EVER. I typically order the well know dishes - Pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and drunken noodles. They will also customize dishes including removing nuts and eggs or reducing spicy flavors. I recommend the appetizer sampler and the banana dessert.
Amazing Thai food super friendly owners the curry and satay chicken is excellent!!!
I’ve always loved the spicy Thai basil fried rice. It is soooo good.
Can’t recommend this enough it’s a staple Thai spot for my partner and I. He always orders basil fried rice (minus the green beans) I’ve ordered several things. Love their crab fried rice pineapple fried rice and recently I’ve ordered their Kaprow with chicken and they didn’t disappoint again. I also love the sticky rice.
Also their portions are huge my partner and I both always have lunch the next day
Great 👍 place. Order now!
Large portions and delicious, flavorful food every single time. My favorites are the crab fried rice and beef krapow. Best i’ve had in DC or Virginia. The shrimp tempura with fried veggies is also really good.
Thai Orchid's Kitchen is one of DC's hidden gems. We primarily order delivery from here and it is one of the most reliable meals in our delivery rotation. Delivery is quick and the food is consistent and delicious.
This is not a dine in place. They still have it set up like Covid where it’s blocked off and you order through a glass partition.

They're ok... Not horrible, not great but ok.
Excellent thai cuisine! A true family business with all the love and attention needed in running a successful restaurant.
Stop by for a bite. Service was great. The staff was so kind and accommodating. The food is some of the best Thai I've had in a while. So much flavor and some good spicy kick if that's your thing. Great selection of food. Good size portions. A great place to get something different to eat in your travels. I'll be stopping back.
The food was pretty good.
Consistently the best Thai food hands down! Super great about customizing orders placed via delivery app. My go to is the basil friend rice with crab and add pineapple! The steamed dumplings are so delicious.
Nice place good food and friendly staff
Best Thai I’ve had in DC

This place is delicious!!!
YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!! Everything we ordered tasted so delicious. I recommend the “pad cee eu with shrimp” as its so flavorful. It was our first time visiting Washington DC and the first restaurant we visited- the employee was very helpful, patient and kind with answering our questions. Tastes authentic. The guy even gave us a little surprise (papaya salad) upon pickup- we’re so grateful! Good prices as well compared to other Thai restaurants we visited in different areas. The large Thai iced tea was DELICIOUS and HUGE for only $5!! One of the yummiest Thai teas!! Cheaper than a small boba. Thank you so much, will come back again before we leave the city!
Way of goal
Great food and service!
We weren't sure what to expect after seeing some questionable reviews, but are glad we chose to try it. They do no offer eat-in dining, but the takeout portions are large, and everything was hot and well-packed when we made it home.
The food is excellent and you get your money 's worth.
My first time eating Thai it's not for me
The obvious is a lot of these posters never had real thai food , I tried several dishes and this is the worse place on the planet . 🤮
Lowkey gem. Best deal for Thai food in DC — takeout portions could feed a small army, and it’s consistently delicious. Especially recommend the classic noodle dishes (e.g. Pad Thai) and the Larb.
I tried the Thai orchard fried rice. The shrimp, crab meat & chicken wasn't fresh. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I originally had high hope for this establishment since I heard such great things however I can not tell a lie. This was not it for me. The portions are great but the flavor leaves a lot to be desired. The fried calamari was horrid. Literally threw it in the trash. The Thia Orchid fried rice special was so so… it’s day three of ordering it and it’s still in the fridge (getting tossed today). Also ordered the chicken Pad see-eww the dog seems to enjoy it so, but the noodles tasted burnt to me and the flavor was very lacking. Perhaps this was just an off day for the cook(s), but for $70 due to ordering via Grub Hub I could have simply driven myself to Virginia to Galae Thia for a fraction of the price and better taste.. maybe in the warmer months I will try again just to see if it was what I ordered and maybe because it was through Grub Hun. I find sometimes that food at the restaurant is better than when delivered so to be continued I guess…
The food was not good. My kaprow inexplicably had corn, carrots green beans, and peas. And that mix (that looked like it came out of a freezer bag) made up more than half of the dish. The sauce was watery and bland. I would give it one star, but the delivery was prompt and someone else was paying the bill, so I don't know how much it cost.
Prices are a bit high now that Vincent is no longer the owner but the food is still good
Their green curry is now one of my favorites, the spice level is excellent. Wow!! We were super excited to find a new (to us) Thai restaurant in our new neighborhood. We ordered for delivery through doordash and are really impressed by how well the food traveled. They poked holes in the top of the containers for ventilation so none of our food was over-saturated or soggy. We got the appetizer sampler with 2 each of 5 different apps. They were all incredible, namely the pork dumplings. We also got the pad kee mao (drunken noodles) and they had the perfect amount of spice. We also got the thom kha (my personal favorite) and it was just perfect. What a great meal. This is our new go-to!
This was my first time there and I was impressed with their menu. Staff was welcoming and the atmosphere calming and clean. My single serving was enough for three people. I'm going back very soon!!!
I have been eating here for years and the food is consistently delicious, the service is warm and pleasant and the establishment is spotless. I always intend to venture out and try a new dish but I am so delighted with Red or Panang Curry that I can’t tear myself away; but my husband and daughter love the Drunken Noodle. Thank you Thai Orchid for all the adjustments you made during COVID to remain safely open.
Service and food were great.
This a pretty nice spot. The inside is quite cozy and the food is pretty good. The Thai Tea is delicious.
Ordered about 10 different dishes for carryout for a big group - they were all delicious. To top it off, the staff were very friendly!
I love this place. The food is wonderful! Had the Kapow. Will come back often!!
Best Thai food in DC
Just found hair and a piece of plastic in my food..that I ate! Lemongrass soup smelled awful and it made me throw up.
Delicious. Generous portions.
Great food, large portions.
Always the best customer service best food been eating here for the past 3 years I will drive from Bowie , md just to get this food always worth the visit
Very good food. I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp and Thai tea. Staff is nice also.
Very good food. Always fresh and hot. My favorite is the lump crab fried rice. Get it spicy!
It's really good but that pad thai is going to put you in a serious food coma lol
Highly dissatisfied. I PAID $17 For drunken noodles and shrimp. It arrived hot and the shrimp were fresh. The issue was, I received 5 five shrimp on top of layers and layers of noodles. Total waste of money!!! I was actually charged 17.00 for noodles. There were no shrimp throughout the pasta. Rip off!! Never will purchase from them again.
Food is really good. I had the drunken spaghetti 🤤. Staff is very friendly also
Sigh. I almost hate to review because the delivery service is so superb, and I don’t want to let the secret out. But, this place is definitely our go-to takeout. Everything is tasty, the salmon-pumpkin curry is especially good. Never had an issue, and exactly what I want for takeout Thai food.
For the curry puffs alone!!!! You get four per order not two like some establishments. Would be a Five Star but the service could be better. I enjoyed what I ordered.
You will love it. Best Thai food in DC.
This place came out of no where and isn't just some corner side carry out. It's authentic food and comes at an authentic price. That is to say it's worth every penny.
My favorite Thai food in DC hands down. Very kind people with generous portions (order extra protein!) 💙
Lately, the kaprow sauce has been tasteless and watery. It used to be kinda sweet. I prefer the female chef, I guess I'll order only when she's there...not giving up on them yet.
The second time I ordered food from this dump. Both ti5I got sick after eating their food. Not fresh and tasteless. Over priced. The place smells like a public bathroom.
We enjoyed our pad thai and the Thai Orchids fried rice. The person answering the phone was friendly too.
Our favorite restaurant! Slowly making our way through the menu, and EVERYTHING has been delicious. Delivery is always excellent, with a lot of attention paid to how fried foods are delivered in particular. Never soggy, always crisp!
Friendly staff who serve tasty Thai food! I highly recommend!
Tasty standard Thai dishes, WONDERFUL service.
A few less standard specials, but everything was wonderful and tasty. Server was wonderful, saw us enjoying the heat from the dishes and offered to bring us drinks.
Papaya salad could use more heat, but still had wonderful flavor.
Updatr: July 2020, food is still delicious and since I am outside of their delivery zone, came by for some take out and they have a great, simple set up to keep everyone safe. So glad I stopped by, it was so worth it and glad they are making it work.
Great food, friendly service!
Excellent food!! And all the chain service.
Great service. I've gotten take out here a few times in the food is delicious.
Amazing food.
Yes. I have been eating Thia food for the last 2 days and they deliver and take cash and their
Thia Tea is the Boom.
Thank you for understanding my banking challenge.
Great food
Friendly personel and good food.
It's okay. You get to enjoy Thai food while engaging in community affairs. They hold a lot of meetings there on Monday nights about what's going on in the community, city, and changes that will be made.
Great food...
Good Food
Damn good noodles. I will be back. A lil pricey
Very nice people. The chicken Pad Thai was outstanding !!!
There food is delicious
Most definitely the best Asian food I’ve ever had! Drunken spaghetti was top notch. The sampler appetizer was beyond fulfilling. The food was worth every penny, I’ll most definitely be returning.
Got the tempura vegetables it was everything loved it.
Food was too sugary sweet for my parents and I. Very americanized take on thai food I guess. Good calamari, though.
Looove the pumpkin curry!
7 of us ate here we all said delicious
Awesome service and many amazing menu options!
Great place to eat, good customer service, clean place, good food, kids will enjoy
Great food and very nice service
Service was attentive, kind and quick. A hidden gem, for sure.
I am not a fan of Thai food, but this place proves that Thai food can be absolutely delicious. I have seen and been in fancier looking Thai restaurants but none of them compare when it comes to their food. Customer service is always great. The location is in a horrible place, but if that keeps the food at a reasonable cost and tasting amazing then I dont mind the location at all.
The food and customer service are always GREAT!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Food was fantastic!
Love the food
Food is great and fresh...scrumptious
The place has an odd smell, like moldy or old dishwater water. Pad Thai was really good, the beef salad wasn’t great. There was a giant roach walking across the floor while we were eating. Anyone one of these things by themselves would be ok but all together it’s not great.
Flies friendly happening but maybe with cultural hospitality can compensate.
Pineapple fried rice is very good with chicken and shrimp. They mixed the basil in it too. Delicious!
Thai orchid's kitchen holds the Thai food crown in Washington, DC. There is no competition. I could list my favorite food, however this review would never stop. Whether it's pad see ew, fried rice or panang curry - the food is consistently good. It is a perfect place to carry out or sit in.
Every time I have a guest in town I take them to Thai orchid. Most of them say that this is the best Thai food that they have ever tasted. I have to agree!
Great reasonable restaurant in SE
Best Thai I've had in a long time. Will return real soon
There is not a bad dish on the menu. You will not be disappointed.
Former 5 star in my book for the best Thai food in the city. Great prices and wonderful people.
The food quality has gone down too much, but I'll keep trying them since they have always had different cooks with slightly different tasting dishes. Who knows, maybe the taste will make it back.
Wonderful food, wonderful service, A wonderful experience.
Very fresh and clean
My wife and I normally come here for carryout but today we decided to dine-in. And just as I thought the food was still good!! LOL
Salmon and crab fried rice taste fresh and taste amazing... so good i had to write a review 🤤 HUGE portions it literally took me three days to finish it all.
If i could go here everyday to get my favorite spring rolls in the city I would.
Great owners, Great Experience!! Every time!!!
I soo love this place!
Food is great
Bland and below average even compared to its many Americanized Thai competitors on the Hill. The drunken noodles had no flavor or heat. The Siam fried rice tasted like dishwater — we threw away most of it. And all of the food seemed less than fresh. My wife actually considered making dinner herself after the takeout order arrived.
The sampler appetizer platter was the best of the order, but we wouldn’t return for that.
I might give it more than one star but this place is rated too high on Google and should be knocked down a peg.
Best Thai food in the DC area, also great service. Crab fried rice is amazing.
i love this
