Overall, it was an average experience. As someone with Southeast Asian taste buds, I tend to be more particular when it comes to Thai cuisine. The papaya salad was excellent and hit the mark. However, the Tom Yum lacked depth of flavor and was too plain and sour for my liking. Our chicken curry was somewhat chewy. I've experienced better at other restaurants. On the positive side, the atmosphere of this family-owned restaurant was heartwarming. I hope they can improve the quality of their food in the future.
We stop by for dinner, this place is very small kept in mind setting is very tight can’t barely move. Even eating is uncomfortable with next person next to you. Food is okay we just don’t enjoy the food it’s very crowded. So much customer, not enough server. When they set us down, server don’t even offer water. Take the order right away. We ask for water, never brought to us until we just left. Not worth it the experience.
Chicken satay and pad thai were really good. It would be good if you add shrimp to pad thai. However, the moo ping was disappointing. The moo ping I've had is a skewered meat dish that is marinated and grilled. But here, the moo ping is like a hamburger patty made with minced meat.
Legit Hole in the Wall!
The whole place is the size of my apartment's living room, including the open kitchen you squeeze by to get to the few tables, but don't let that keep you from going in (it almost stopped us). The food was delicious and the staff was great. I can recommend the BBQ pork fried rice. The type of spot that gives SF fun city vibes. I will eat here again.
I ordered dinner from here and got the vegetarian eggplant stir fry with jasmine rice. The order arrived sooner than anticipated, but as I started eating, I noticed the tofu tasted sour and spoiled, and some pieces had specks of blue mold throughout them. I spit out the bite I was chewing and set the rest of the tofu aside and checked if any of the dish were salvageable, but some of the other vegetables, such as the mushrooms and corn, also tasted spoiled, and there were blackish/blue patches of mold on the corn. I spit out a spoiled mushroom, which could be toxic if consumed and didn’t eat any of the corn.
I honestly don’t know how this business is still operating. There is clearly no food quality assurance, so the food is unsafe for consumption, and I am concerned about the risk of food poisoning. I regret ordering from here and advise against anyone else eating food from here.

The lady seating people and taking orders has a horrible attitude. The food is also pretty bad. Does not make up for the horrible service.
Spice level perfect - taste delicious! Don’t deny your chance to dine here! Small seating area and we were fortunate to get a table immediately! Penang curry chicken was awesome, drunken noodles - wow!
The food was okay, I'm just glad that they're open late and in the area
An amazing hole in the wall find! One of the best Pad See Ews I’ve ever had..perfect balance of flavor and taste! Beautifully done..would definitely come back specially for the that!
Limitan mucho el acceso porque es pequeño y cierran muy temprano.

Best Thai in San Francisco
They have THE best yellow curry I’ve ever tried. I live in Florida but every single time I visit SF this is a must on my todo list. Absolutely delicious!
It is a small restaurant but super busy. We have to wait about 25 minutes to get a table.
The food was excellent, very tasty, and the portions were big.
I had a duck pad see yew. Good flavors but duck was not fresh tasting.
A small family-owned business, and cozy spot, food was delicious and fulfilling. I highly recommend the curry.

Fantastic meals, both barbecue pork fried rice and pad ki mao with tofu. Also, veggie rolls were good. Will be back.
Excellent, authentic Thai food. Great variety with all the staples. Excellent flavor. Small dining area, but service was friendly and quick.
Not a place I'll return to. Anyone that says it's the best pad Thai they've had, has never had good pad Thai. Kind of tasted like it was made with ketchup not tamari. The MooPing pork was ok. The food wasn't terrible, but I won't be back. And I can't recommend it... The people who worked there seemed nice...

Terrible business. Charged me $45 dollars for an oder that was never delivered nor prepared. This establishment is a fraud, and an embarrassment to the hospitality industry.
If you care about professional service work, spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Absolute scam.
Terrible customer service. Terrible service and food in general. They charged me $45 for an order that was never prepared and never delivered.
This place is a massive shame and you should spend your money elsewhere if you care about the quality of service where you dine.

Smallest restaurant I’ve ever seen! Obviously very popular. So got our food to go. Really great curry and Pad Thai. Definitely recommended.
This place is small, but the food is outstanding. I'll get the green curry every time and it has some heat to it.
Exactamente servicio este lugar 1903
Delicious authentic, tasty Thai food, really enjoyed a red curry here, and can understand why it seems so busy and popular.
Great place. Tiny hole in the wall, but don't let that discourage you. You won't be disappointed.
Le podemos llamar la comida de los dioses cocinan delicioso
Excellent service, good food
Small authentic and family owned eatery with amazing food. Especially recommend the drunken noodles (pad kee mao)
Good menu but wished they made more an effort to fix things around the place. For example, the spiral on pretty much all the menus were hanging off. There was blue tape across the top of the back wall and stained ceiling tiles above the kitchen area and the dining area.
Your appetizers might not come out first so fyi. I ordered the fried pumpkin. I liked it and the sauce but the salad was a bit wilty. I also had the roti gaeng. I kinda wish I ordered something else but it was still good. The fried pancake was very crispy but good. I thought it was supposed to come with roti as well. Maybe I read it wrong.
Food was mediocre. The Pad Thai was way below average standard in my opinion. Even the Thai tea doesn't taste good. The lady who was serving was rude and not careful at all.
The worst part is that the whole restaurants have a urine smell that we were not sure it's from the toilet or the neighborhood. We just wanted to finish and leave as soon as possible.
Interesting atmosphere, great Thai food.
Very goooood tasty Thai cusine and big size bowl^^
Fantastic Thai food! Hot, fresh, perfectly balanced flavors.
Very tight seating - had to "share" a table with another couple, but that was part of the experience and they were packed in this small restaurant.
Came across this spot while searching google and it’s a great find. Crispy pumpkin was delicious! Papaya salad so good. Their roti bread is so flaky and perfect. Green curry 10/10. Sweet roti dessert tasted similar to a funnel cake but with that wonderful roti texture. Everything was delicious and the staff were very nice and quick. Check it out for sure
great lychee roast duck curry. amazing.
easy parking on sunday.
duck fried rice and noodles are good beef noodle good, chilli could be hotter. the roast pork and wanton not as good
Had a hair in my noodles.
음식도 보통이고 배가 고파도 다시 먹고싶지 않습니다 계산하는 아주머니 서비스도 다시 받고싶지 않습니다
Great lunch experience. The place is not swanky so I wouldn’t comment too hard on the atmosphere but the food is a solid five — at least the Pad Gra Pow I went for. A bit heavy handed on the oyster sauce for my taste but deliciously spicy without being burning hot. Veggies were sizzled to perfection. Prompt and friendly service, all of that for about 20$ including the tip. Highly recommended.
Beautiful fresh food, taste perfect and service quick and efficient
We arrived to find a queue - we put our on name on the wait list - they said a 20 min wait but it was only 10 and it was worth it!!
If you love Thai this is the spot.
Maybe I was here on the wrong day and ordered the wrong things. 😕 my son and I ordered stewed beef noodle soup. It doesn't taste like Thai boat noodle soup nor taste like ANY kind of beef noodle soup. It was odd. Both my son and I agree the meatball also tasted strange (was it going bad?) I would give it 2/10, we barely ate it was that unpleasant. Laab didn't have enough toasted rice powder it in therefore it doesn't really taste like laab either. I'd give it 4/10. Today just wasn't our luck. 😵💫 either the chef isn't thai or thai chef who can't cook.
Fade tasteless and expensive
Excellent food in a very small restaurant. The red curry was great.
The space is small so there's usually a wait but the food is worth it! Coconut rice was a bit dry and a bit too sweet but still a good companion for the peanut sauce tofu. We also had the fried pumpkin and veggie fresh rolls which were piping hot and deliciously fresh 🤤 I would definitely come here again
We ordered in and got pad kee mao and red thai curry. Both dishes were really good. The spice levels are serious. We ordered spicy pad kee mao it was tad too spicy for me. We would love to try other dishes. Forgot to take pictures.
Pad thai was totally bland, you could only taste sweetness
Tofu pad thai was hot and delicious and a good price. Big portion. Good vegetarian options.
I don't understand why tourists think that being a bad host and terrible atmosphere makes a restaurant good.
- The food is acceptable, but far from the best and nothing you can't find elsewhere.
- The service is atrocious and basically non-existent. The one old lady waitress won't even acknowledge you when you walk in, and you're treated as an inconvenience the whole time you're there.
- The atmosphere is awful, with narrow seating spaces and sticky tables.
- The prices are ridiculously high for the portion you get.
Hands down the worst dining experience we had in our visit to SF, and we're not fancy people. If you're going here thinking it's a good hole in the wall, save yourself... It's just a bad restaurant with some unexplained high reviews.
Pti boui-boui trouvé complètement par hasard à la sortie de notre avion.
Il est avéré être l’un des meilleurs thaï que j’ai mangé de ma vie .
Un vrai vrai kiffe . Cuisine de qualité , copieux et diablement bon.
Great food, well worth the price! Duck curry is my favorite.
This was the best pad thai I've ever had anywhere in the world
They have charged more into my card than what was in the bill after 2 days.
+ Excellent food + nice cozy restaurant with kitchen integrated so you can see how your food is being prepared + good service
Just make sure you really can eat spicy before ordering anything spicy. They mean it :)
Delicous
Pretty good place with decent food
Cibo buono e ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Sicuramente consigliato. Staff poco gentile e locale non molto pulito
One of the best Pad Thais I've ever had! The noodles were perfectly soft, with just the right amount of moisture and sauce, and they weren’t stuck together. The dish was generous with ingredients and portion size. The pumpkin fries were equally delicious. While the pineapple fried rice was tasty, the Pad Thai and pumpkin fries were definitely the highlights for me. I’ll definitely be back and hope they never change their recipes!
order packing very slow
Heerlijk eten!!! Gewoon doen. Lekker thais.
Amazing food , the green curry was excellent !
Food was excellent. Not the most presentable place but the food tasted fresh!!
I got the combination soup 😁😁 and Thai tea. The only item I didn't like was the calamari. I wouldn't recommend that appetizer. Wasn't worth the money.
Amazing thai food. So flavorful and delicious!
The service here is terrible. Find another Thai restaurant nearby.
I found The Thonglor while looking for the best pad Thai in San Francisco, and it didn’t disappoint. This small and simple place near Union Square offers authentic Thai flavors. The line at lunchtime is worth it for their delicious pad Thai, spring rolls, and tea. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu!
One of the best thai places around SF downtown. Very cozy feel. Highly recommended!!!! The was delicious and the service was great!
Very small. No wait on a Wednesday evening. Servers were great but the food wasn't. Pad thai was weirdly sour and the basil fried rice was awfully spicy despite no mention of anything spicy in the menu, was super salty, and barely had any beef or veggies in it - it was like 80% rice. I didn't finish it and ended up going elsewhere for dinner. I unfortunately don't recommend this place.
Small establishment but packed with charm. By far the best Thai food I have ever eaten!
I’ve read a few blog reviews of this place so tried it out for an early dinner after seeing a matinee of Evita at the SF Playhouse - great location and original twists on classic dishes and some I’d never heard of - like the appetizer
“Hoi-Jor” - a tasty little fried seafood pie - which was my favorite - we also had Pad See Ew Chicken, Roast Duck, Mango with Black Sweet Rice - which was all fresh and well prepared and reasonably priced. The interior was clean but could use a refresh - especially funky white plastic and mirror-tiled walls - but good use of space and seems they thrive mostly on takeout and the theater / tourist crowd.
As an aside we took advantage of the chance to walk around the area which was surprisingly cleaner and had more foot traffic than I expected from how desolate the retail spaces are - especially down Powell near the trolley turnaround down to the square - the city needs to really step it up and put a night market or street fair booths from other city vendors or something to liven up these streets or I fear there will be an even longer time to recovery - seems the Prima Dona landlords here must not want to face reality and lower rents to get businesses in there ASAP.
best thai food in the bay. up there with the food you can get from thailand itself
Service 0/5
We’re visiting from Australia. We came during lunch time. The front old lady who served was very very rude.
Once we finished our meal, I need to pay by cash and gave her the notes - the lady was ignoring my wish and she misunderstood (perhaps??) that she thought some of the cash was for her tips.
I explained my request why I paid with the cash,She was not happy and threw out some of the notes in front of my face.
I have never experienced this kind of service or attitude anywhere in any other countries even countries that people said no rules. Let alone in this big country whom always expect customers to give tips regardless any kind of services you experienced. I feel so disgusted by her attitude.
Not recommended if you’d like to experience even a standard hospitality service .
As today was our last day in the city, the lady attitude was kind of ruined the whole experience we had for the last 4 days in the city.
Food : 4/5
พนักงานพูดจาแย่มาก ไม่มีใจบริการ รสชาติอาหารเฉยๆ ไม่แนะนำค่ะ
My favourite Thai place in the city. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is even better. Special shoutout to our server Jap for going above and beyond for us!!
ABSOLUTELY EXCEPTIONAL—one of a one. If you visiting or from here and haven’t been yet, this should be the next thing y’all do after reading this review. I wanna give a special shout-out to Jap for his 10/10 customer service and warm personality. It felt as if I was coming home for a warm dish with hella love and comfort. Spent days after thinking about the pad se eu with chicken no lie. 🤤
I've visited Thiland more that 15 times over the years and eaten at many Thai restaurants around the world but never seen or tasted anything like the beef soup (Tom Sapp Nuer Pey). I asked the Waitress why id never seen this on a thai menu before and was told it's more of a home cooked meal. So tender, so flavourful and just a dream dish.
We also had the silver noodle salad and Thai friend rice.
Very authentic thai food, excellent service and highly recommended if you're in San Francisco!!!
We came here around 7 pm and had to wait about 30 minutes for a seat, but it was worth it. This hole-in-the-wall spot may not look like much from the outside, but the food is absolutely amazing. The Tomyum soup was a bit too sour for my taste, but overall it was still pretty good.
Food was okay not the best Thai food I’ve had. The waiter was really friendly and nice. Only con is one of the cooks was sneezing in the kitchen and didn’t cover him mouth. Thankfully I got my food before he did that but that’s absolutely disgusting 🤮
Great takeout place. Food was absolutely delicious and generous servings. Was in SF for 4 days and ordered 4 times.
Food and service were great! Small location so plan accordingly.
Despite the super super long waiting time, the food was really good. Probably one of the best in America.
I was craving for a good Pad See Ew, and this restaurant fullfill my imagination. It was just perfect, the vegetable had a bite to it and the meat was juicy, the noodles had the perfect chewy texture. I also ordered a Papaya Salad the heat Level was perfect as I ordered it. I will come back here for sure. There was really nothing I can complain about.
My girlfriend recently brought me leftovers from here. I’ve been to at least 20+ Thai restaurants and can say with confidence that the food and quality were absolutely the best… even if it was a bit cold when I ate it. Extremely flavorful and will be going here more often!
Great food and top notch service. We order Tom Yum soup and it’s easy share between two, lots of flavour and vegan and chicken soup had different broth flavour.
Pad Thai, stir fry and thanglor curry are golden (you know what I mean)!! Definitely recommend.
The food here is so good! It definitely tastes very fresh and unique compared to other Thai restaurants. To start we got both vegetarian and chicken Tom Yum soup and they both tasted different- which tells us they are not just using stock broth. The Pad Thai was both sweet and spicy and the Thaglor curry was so good! While the restaurant is a tight squeeze it’s clean and they provide excellent service.
Recommended by our concierge at the St Francis Westin and it was great. Got it to go after a party night and everyone was really happy. Big portions, r!ecommended
Food was ok.
Good price
Got a takeout, chicken was raw on the inside and the duck was full of bones and tendons. I'm a regular, or at least was. Won't be returning.
For delivery they are helpless staff .
I get to San Francisco yearly and I always make a bee line for this place. It’s not going to win awards on its ambience but oh my the food and service is second to none. The prices are crazy reasonable, especially considering where they are. If I could give more than 5 stars for the food and service I would.
We were here to have dinner and we were not received well because we were four people and there's not enough space. We were told to put our name on the waiting list and it will take 25-30 minutes. It was cold outside so we were waiting inside and the server said he can't work if we stay there so finally without having anything we looked for another restaurant and left. If a customer is not welcomed they have other options so they lose us as a customer.
The Thonglor is a decent, but not great, Thai restaurant. Their menu is expansive and has a lot of Thai classic dishes. However, some of the noodle dishes (that specifically come with vegetables) are pretty skimpy when it comes to adding vegetables, leaving the customer with just a 1-2 pound dish of noodles. While the noodles taste good, I would have appreciated more variety in the dish.
Absolutely the best Thai location Downtown/ Union Square. Heres why,
I tried it all and nothing misses!! From their delicious noodles, ( pad thai with shrimp being my fav so far) to their curries with duck or pork, their more authentic Thai dishes all have unique strong tasting plus they can make any dish spicy if you ask. I assure you, I have gone to all near by Thai rest within 1 mile radius if you’re standing in the center of Union Square Park.. this is a grand slam spot to eat from. Fried chicken over fried rice is sooo simple but they make it sooo good.
To all tourist visiting. You want to come here.
It’s tiny but they offer take out and still is heaven in bed when you eat it in your comfort zone.
The portions are quite generous especially in this area. All the proteins you want in every bite with whatever you get.
I even made a video about it on my yt. Its that great.
The food was tasty but unfortunately I got really sick after eating it. I rarely get sick, and it lasted for roughly 24 hours. I really think it was the food. I've eaten there before and was fine but not this time.
Everything went well, the food was great and service was good as well until this server told me that I should tip whenever I go out to eat and that made me feel awkward and uncomfortable. That was hella RUDE!!! It's not mandatory to leave a tip it's a choice!!
Food was excellent! Taste authentic. Service was fast. Quaint unassuming restaurant tacked away. A gem!
Ordered the "seafood" tom kha. No flavor, just a bunch of fish balls and imitation crab with 3 shrimp. Still looking for the lemongrass, galangal, ANY flavor. Don't bother with this place.
A hidden gem for Thai food! The boat noodle here has a lighter broth, a little bit on the sweet side, but has a lot of clean delicious braised and poached beef, along with meatballs. It is quite soothing to eat one. My friend got chicken stir fry with cashew nuts. It is freshly made so it is steaming hot, crispy and flavorful. I looked at another table and see that the stir fry basil look super legit too. I would like to try other dishes next time.
Really good food and good price. Rice is sticky by default - added bonus. The place is small but pros outweigh this one con
The best Pad Thai. Tastes so good! I try to come here as often as possible when I'm in San Francisco.
Great food - delicious, warm and good enough portions. Moderate value for money as well.
Service was respectful and delivered within a reasonable time.
We did a take away so would not comment much on the atmosphere within.
Excelente lugar, noche agradable en este lugar
It was good
Tasty Thai food with perfect portion.
We ordered from Uber Eats tonight, and the food was in edible. The Tom Yum soup had only broth, mushrooms, and chicken. The broth tasted like water with spices thrown in it, and the chicken was way overcooked. The beef in the green curry with beef was absolutely rubbery. I gave the feedback to Uber Eats yet they refused to refund our money or even give us some kind of credit. It’s not OK to spend $50+ on food and have it be an edible.
Best Thai I have had yellow curry was amazing. My boys loved their chicken pad Thai and said that was the 3bwt they had as well. Nice find close to my hotel here in San Francisco. Easy to order online and quick pickup.
Server is rude and condescending.
HORRIBLE customer service! I came in to grab takeout today. I walked in and the served was right next to me and completely ignored me. I gave her the benefit of the doubt just in case she was serving another customer. I saw my name and order on the counter OUT IN THE OPEN and went to grab it and she yelled all me. It was as if she was waiting for the opportunity to snap at me because she ignored me until I went to look for my order.
It was extremely rude and all of the other customers looked because she yelled so loud at me. I was so embarrassed. That is no way to talk to people like that and it was extremely condescending. I could understand why she would want to check to see if it was my order but she should have not yelled me and at least used her manners.
Best Thai in SF! The food is absolutely delicious.
