Restaurant dishing out a variety of Thai staples, from curries to noodles, in a contemporary space.
Great little 'hole in the wall' Thai spot. The lunch special was fantastic, served quick and fresh, and a great value. Service is personable, warm and swift. Place is small, but feels warm and inviting. Ive been ordering delivery from here for years, but now that I've finally been there, I'll try to make it a regular stop.
I have gotten the pineapple fried rice from UberEats 3 times, and it is the only item that I have ordered multiple times. It is delicious and well prepared. So much flavor, everything comes together so harmoniously for a wonderful meal. Lots of pineapple makes it naturally sweet which compliments the saltiness.
Upon visiting Nine and Nine Thai Kitchen in Pasadena, we were immediately charmed by its cozy atmosphere and the warm welcome from its staff. The decor, featuring Thai photographs and a distinctive TuTu taxi at the entrance, added to the restaurant’s unique allure.
The lunch special, a flavorful Chicken Yellow Curry, was a delightful treat for just $10, accompanied by rice and salad. The Pad Thai, priced at $12, offered a generous portion of authentically Thai, chewy noodles that were slightly wet but deliciously seasoned.
In conclusion, Nine and Nine Thai Kitchen delivered an exceptional dining experience with its friendly service and authentic Thai flavors. It’s clear why our friends recommended this place, and it’s with pleasure that I share this positive review. A visit to Nine and Nine is highly recommended for anyone in search of genuine Thai cuisine in Pasadena.
Outdoor seating, which is a COVID plus! I felt rushed the moment I walked in, and the lunch special has gone up two dollars in the past few months it seems according to reviews. Service was quick but I got a vibe they wanted me in and out quickly or something, not sure why, they weren’t too busy. All things considered, the yellow curry was pretty delicious as were the dumplings, sauces, and rice! And the thai iced tea was only $4 which is cheaper than most places.
Decent price. The texture of the Pad Thai is chewy and the taste just right. Love it.
House Fish Ball is so so. Curry Chicken is too dried but the peanut sauce is great.
~~~~~~~~~~
After a few months, I visited again. I tried green curry chicken with rice, pretty good and spicy.🤭 The House noodles is light. Like it.
Have to review this place. I used to go to president Thai for good Thai food. But after visiting this place I never went anywhere else. Food is very tasty and prices are so good. Party of 3 can have belly full of food in 50$
Best thai food in Pasadena!
Sea food Tom yum was amazing! Perfect balance spicy and sour notes and the seafood tasted fresh. The chicken skewers were tough, bland, and didn't care much for the peanut sauce they serve it with. Pork spare ribs also left much to be desired, bbq sauce was runny and didn't have much flavor. Service was great considering it was a busy night
Seemed reluctant serve our group and made us feel uncomfortable for wanting to be served
Wow. Just ordered on Postmates. Been going to this restaurant for years for the lunch specials but my husband ordered today and it was so amazing. The calamari was delicious. What is in this breading!? We ordered pineapple curry with shrimp also amazing. Pad see ew we couldn’t stop eating.
❤️
Thank you for a lovely romantic dinner at home. It was awesome.
The waiters are not happy and do not want to serve
Really bad customer service the waitress was rude, When you only ask, they bring to you napkins, how people can live good review for this place when they don’t know how to take care of the customers and be a nice person. I hope Owner will see this message and talk with their employees to be nice with the customer
We come every couple of weeks. Regular customer. We ordered takeout and on our way out decided to just eat it there. There were at least 6 open tables so we sat at a small one outside. Worker comes up and says we can’t eat there because we had takeout. Paying customer can’t eat their meal at one of the open tables? Lost a customer.
👍
Thai dish unlike any other..
Delicious food, wonderful service, and such cute decor! I live in the neighborhood and eat there or order from them at least 3 times a month. My go to Thai spot :)
Large portions, fast and delicious fresh Thai food thanks 🙏
delicious and affordable
this is my number one thai spot in Pasadena highly recommend
The food was whatever, nothing I’d need to try again. But when I paid they unfortunately lost my credit card as it fell in a small crack between the wall and counter. It was a total accident and the waitress was so apologetic and sweet. Accidents happen so I don’t blame her. However, I asked if my meal could be comped because it is a huge inconvenience and their mistake. The restaurant would not refund me. The waitress tried to pay for my meal out of pocket but I of course did not let her. I feel that the restaurant should have taken responsibility and make it right. Very disappointing that it was not even an option.
I went to the bathroom and it was pretty dirty and then after I saw some roaches by the back door overall the food was kind of whatever but it’s probably due to the roaches
This establishment is a joke for thai food. The guy over the counter is very rude to the customers and doordash customers also their food is salty and small portioned.The lunch special is not good. The next door thai food Janeira thai food has a better tasting menu and the atmosphere is more pleasant.
Best laarb and somtum in Pasadena. If you like authentic Thai food then this is the place for you
the food is not tasty, this is not prepared in Asia where I have been many times. The staff is not friendly
Lived in Pasadena for 6 years and hands down this is the best thai restaurant you’ll go to! My favorite go-to place.
After hearing much about Nine and Nine Thai Kitchen in Pasadena, my anticipation was met with nothing short of a culinary calamity. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance felt more akin to a forgotten storage room rather than a restaurant with any aspiration of providing a dining experience. The air was stale, carrying a faint but distinctly unpleasant odor, reminiscent of a blend between overused cooking oil and forgotten leftovers.
I decided to give their renowned Pad Thai a chance, hoping the food could redeem what the atmosphere could not. Regrettably, this was a grave mistake. The dish, if one could indeed call it that, was an unpalatable jumble of ingredients. The noodles were so overcooked they had begun to form a singular mass, the chicken was drier than the Sahara, and the sauce was overwhelmingly sweet, as if the sugar jar had accidentally emptied itself into the pan.
To add insult to injury, the service was as lackluster as the meal. My attempts to catch the attention of the staff were ignored with such dedication, one might have thought it to be a practiced art form. When the bill arrived, it felt less like a request for payment and more like a ransom note for my lost evening.
In summary, Nine and Nine Thai Kitchen delivered an unforgettable experience, though not for reasons one might hope. It stands as a stark reminder that not all that glitters is gold, and certainly, not all that is Thai Kitchen is worth the visit.
Decent price. The texture of the Pad Thai is chewy and the taste just right. Love it.
Ordered Pad Kee Mao, and it was delicious. What was so odd though is that the waiter would not look me in the eyes. He stared straight ahead every time he talked to me. It made me feel very unwelcome and - as immature as this is to say - very ugly or smelly or something lol. (And I don't smell and I'm not gorgeous but I don't think I'm ugly either). Or maybe he doesn't like older women who dine alone? Did I remind him of someone he intensely dislikes?
I felt very self conscious, so I didn't enjoy my meal. I don't think I've ever experienced this before.
Delicious. Good amount for price. First place I've been to where I actually had more of the main dish than rice. Nice service.
One of the best pad Thais I’ve had. Dined in person for the first time and their restroom was gross and service so-so.
Please enjoy the experience!
Don't order the Pad Thai. It was disgusting. Eggplant was ok, but a bit over saturated. Curry was good.
Arrived 4 minutes before 11 a.m. I waited to be seated and I was told to leave because they opened at 11 a.m. Rude staff
Good lunch specials!
Had the yellow curry chicken lunch special and it was on point. Exactly what I expected and tasted great. Service was good despite a busy and demanding lunch crowd.
If you do Uber eat driver, don’t deliver from this restaurant….waited like a hour….total disaster
Awesome lunch spot. Great peanut sauce and the lunch specials are delicious, fast and very reasonably priced. One of our favorite spots to stop by on Colorado.
Good service. Food was good. There are two Thai food places in the same commercial building. Both are great. If you happen to choose to eat here, you will get good, tasty food. If you choose the other, you will also get great food and service. The only reason I mentioned both, is because I wanted to let the new customers know that both places are great and don't be afraid you made a bad choice.
Very tasty red Thai red curry. Very best I have had. Perfect spices and very creamy curry.
Bad service the fish tilapia too hard to eat and the fish is burn the sauce is too thick I’m not coming back here very bad service the server busy talking instead check all the customer
The service was both fast and friendly, which added to the overall positive dining experience. The Orange Chicken was an absolute standout, easily the best I've had in a long time. The Yellow Curry packed a delightful punch of spice and flavor. I'm already looking forward to returning for more of these fantastic dishes.
A bit loud but food was great.
This location lacks a few items that are prerequisites. I will start with the good. Our server was very nice. She did her best with what they had.
My crab fried rice was tasty, as was my Thai Iced Tea.
My wife, and our 2 guests were not so fortunate. 2 dishes (chicken pad Thai, shrimp pad-Thai were just plain too sweet and we asked for a new dish, but we're confronted by an aggressive manager.
Rather than sit there and argue, we chose to pay and leave. I am reviewing this from the standpoint of a new customer. Being my 1st time, we were open minded, but were quickly rubbed the wrong way.
We do our best to support local establishments, however, sometimes it's a miss. This location is definitely underwhelming. It would have been nice if they had a/c.
Please be forewarned.
Tasty food! Highly recommend the cashew rice dish extra spicy. Those red Thai chilis pack a punch! Outdoor and indoor seating. Kid and dog friendly. Even when they are busy, they were able to seat most parties (sans a party of six) within 10 minutes as promised. They may have been a bit understaffed for peak/meal rushes. It took a good while to to get our food. The appetizer took about 25 min, and we were able to order our main dishes only 15 min after that. We weren’t in a rush, so it didn’t bother us much. The food was delicious. And felt authentic and fresh. We got the calamari app; it was light and tasty. The sticky mango rice featured a delicious and tasty mango. The basil eggplant with shrimp was tasty, but a little light on the shrimp count. Parking can be a bit tough, but plenty of street parking around on Colorado, Green and the surrounding side streets. Just need a little luck, we found a spot within about 6 min of circling. There is a lot across Colorado on the north side, but it may be for Vromans and offic depot. Great, tasty spot!
Excellent basil fried rice!!
The food was generous and delicious. The outdoor seating was comfortable. The service was quick and attentive. Unfortunately too full for dessert. Worth your while.
"Food was Bussin" my 7 year old said! It really was so delicious! He got the teriyaki lunch plate and I had the yellow curry lunch plate. Food was awesome, service was great! The place is little and the restroom is kinda yucky.. lol that's the only reason not 5🌟..
Food was amazing!!
It was good. It was a little crowded, but the service and food was great.
Some of the best Thai food I've had (and I've had a lot!). Flavorful curries, generous portions, good amount of protein, well prepared stir fries. Great service, accommodated my large group well. Great prices. I can see why the place was so busy, seems like a local staple.
Great food, good prices, excellent service.
Excellent food, excellent service!
Great place for a tasty curry for lunch, prices are more than reasonable. Highly recommend the eggplant dishes. Always find myself going here — too much overpriced and mediocre food in Pasadena, but Nine and Nine stands out.
wow 🤩 I love everything that they Constantly make for me ! I’ve had about everything on the menu and I love this part of Downtown Pasadena off of Colorado Boulevard. Great Ambiance and staff is on point with everything. 5/5*
Great food at good price. This place is always busy but worth it
I like the beef ball meat noodles and glad they have great chilli powder to add on to the soup.
Good environment food tasty and fresh. And price is very decent.
They were not customer service orianted. Not accommodating at all. We had to wave them down to get soy sauce and a plate, and when we asked for more bean sprouts the waitress kept asking do you want more, like three times we said yes then she said it will be 2 dollars extra. I did not leave a tip and then was chased down by the waiter asking if i would give him a tip. NO, you earn a tip, they didn't earn it.
Exceptional Thai food. Go here. Trust me.
Best Thai in Pasadena! They deliver. They have great dining inside and outside. Mango Sticky Rice is the best! Thank you for making our day! Thank you for your amazing service all throughout the pandemic. Kept us going for in home date night dinner.
Our go to place with my wife for thai food in Pasadena, great prices for generous quantities and always tasty! We recommend the pad see ew and panang curry!
Amazing food and service in the cutest restaurant for a very reasonable price point. Dining here is always a wonderful experience! There’s also plenty of street parking on the Colorado Blvd cross streets.
My fav Thai restaurant in da 626
Great service, good choices, my order was delicious and filling.
Very authentic thai food in a bustling small eatery. The servers are nice but very busy. The place is always busy with a lot of customers. But the food is good and reasonably priced. We had take out, but it was well packed and delicious. Wait times are long.
They don't pick up their phone (to order for pick up) and when you get there to order, they said "to wait for half an hour". @#$%^!!!
Worst customer service ever!!! the people work in the front are rude . They ignore the customer that are picking up food. They take for ever to make the food at least 1hour +! the people work in the front act like they dont see you when walk by. They take for ever to even hand you the order. even the order been ready long time cause they are just whole bunch of ignorant they just enjoy see customer line up and wait !!
Very busy and hectic on a weekend evening, but the staff was overly apologetic and trying their best. Food came slow but was worth the wait. We tried the Thai fried rice and the pad see ew. Both hit the spot! Food tasted flavorful and fresh, came in generous portions and was decent for the price. Would definitely come back again.
Excellent food and service. The food was very tasty, paired with friendly service for lunch
Tooo good. Excellent food and lovely service. Will 100% go again
The food is ok, but the service was awful. Try the place down the block... Better food and much better service.
Amazing food, super slow kitchen
First time ever tasting Thai food. I was very satisfied with Nine & Nine Thai Kitchen for being understanding. I'm not familiar with the cuisine & it was difficult to order but what little I had to taste was amazing & there was so much more on the menu I will be going back to order. Mmmmmmmm 😋 thank you for the great service & the delicious food that got my taste buds excited 😁
Good food. Reasonable price. Ask for their recommendations. The desserts are good too.
Small low key environment. Friendly staff.
New fave thai place!!! Amazing food
Coming up on two hours without food. They’re not answering the phone, they’re not giving our DoorDash driver (who’s been waiting for over an hour) any updates. Won’t be eating or ordering from here again.
I had BBQ pork ribs and the meat was tender. Also yellow curry seafood.
The best Thai.
Recommend!
We arrived at around 6:15pm and soon were seated. The staff was busy but very friendly and efficient.
We two had the shumai, house noodle and crispy egg noodle. The shumai was ok (the sauce was too sweet). The house noodle was better. The crispy egg noodle was the best. Both noodles were large in portion.
The prices are reasonable.
Best Thai lunch special in the area. Yellow Chicken Curry is a staple.
Great food, service, and price! Would come back again! Pad Kee Mow was great, and so was Calamari.
I really like the food here and they are accommodating for vegetarians and vegans. However they constantly seem to be short staffed and the atmosphere is kind of ruined by the volume of people talking the waiters and waitresses talking and running around a top speed the phone constantly ringing and the kitchen noises. I was distressed to see on my way to the bathroom that there were vegetables sitting on the floor in the hallway and One of the kitchen staff prepping vegetables in the hallway. The food is good the rice is amazing but they're so short-staffed it is hard to get anyone's attention you stand for a very long time at the front waiting for a table to open up or to even just be seated. I think they need a larger location and definitely more staff.
We love this place
Great service and the best portions of delicious Thai cuisine, can't get enough of this location!
So many vegetarian friendly options. We had the garden rolls, green curry, pad kee mow, tofu and cashew curry. They are accommodating of vegetarian preferences and the service was quick too. Quantities were decent. Highly recommend!!
The yellow curry is amazing here. Wow. The thai tea is also quite good.
Don't order chicken from them. I don't know what they put in their chicken, but their orange chicken gave me food poisoning, so be careful.
It is really delicious. Highly recommend for experts of Thai food. Tom Yam is tasty. Fried rice is so good. I will be back soon
Another Thai food place that is average
I always have a good experience at Nine & Nine. Everything is tasty, from their Pad See Ew to their curries.
Rude bad customer service over the phone.
Continued to rush me as if he was too busy to take any phone orders??? If you can’t take the heat stay out the kitchen leave the attitude at home. Monday November 24th 6:35 pm.
Coconut soup was fantastic!
3.5 stars. Super super fast nice people. The front door had this screeching sound whenever someone opened it. A lot of people came in and out so busy is a good sign but I wanted to go to Home Depot and buy some WD40 for them ;)
I know I know. First world problems.
Pad Thai was good but my friend said it was too sweet for him. A little ketchupy he said. Sweet and sour fish was good. Prices r great.
I would def come back again… with some WD40 ;) lol. Good place. Good peeps.
It’s so hard because I really wanted to give this place five stars. I’ve been a long time patron but have only just recently located to the area. The food is actually really good and very consistent but the service here, if you aren’t dining in, is absolutely terrible during a rush. I’ve watched DoorDashers stand here for 20 minutes while dining in and I myself have waited 20 minutes for my order to be taken when ordering to go. It’s frustrating and bitter sweet.
Pésimo servicio para recoger comida hoy espere más de una hora
Poor customer service. They made the wrong dish due to language barrier and did not want to remake. Thai basil rice/Thai basil fried rice… food was good though but they treat customers badly!
food is good
Great food but all of their drinks taste bad. Especially the Thai iced coffee.
You know what grinds my gears? Coming into the restaurant first to order a fried rice to go but waiting over 30 minutes while everyone else got their dishes out on time. Shouldn’t be any excuses on that long wait. Another insult to injury is that they said it should take only twenty minutes. Exact wait time. 36 minutes.
Finally tried this place and I wasn't disappointed, it's great. It's not my favorite Thai place, especially when it comes to curry (Chim! is still my top in that regard, especially for spicy curry) but the food here was delicious.
I got the shu mai for an appetizer and the yellow chicken curry for my entree, and both were great. The shu mai was unique to any other that I've had before, and had a nutty flavor which was really nice. The curry was very flavorful and delicious, and was especially nice while sitting at one of their outside tables during a rainy night. I asked the server if I could get the curry "as spicy as they make it here" (he even commented on how spicy it looked when he brought it to my table) but it was lackluster, and was similar in spice levels to Janejiro which is a couple of doors down and also has great food.
Definitely try this place out, it's great, but if you're looking for good curry that also has a nice kick, check out Chim! and order it with the spice level of "Thai Spicy".
Other than that, service here was great and the atmosphere definitely felt like a street cafe, which was nice. They have a few tables inside and a few tables outside, but it's not a big place at all. Very cozy.
Amazing small Thai restaurant. Super friendly service and lots of options
Bustling local Thai restaurant serving up Thai classics. Lots of take-out orders. I have tried a few dishes and all were great. I especially love their Tom Yum Fried Rice!
Generous portion and good prices. Fast and friendly service. Expect wait time during peak times.
I'm spoiled i lived in Pasadena and found this restaurant there friendly and everything on the menu is delicious now I have to drive from Los Angeles to Pasadena its a drive but I love there food so delicious 😋
Try the broccoli with crispy pork and chicken with cashew nuts! 👌👌
I ordered ahead of time to pick up my food and when I got there it wasn’t ready. I waited 30 mins and I wasted my entire lunch time waiting for my food. And the place was empty. Very disappointed. The food was pretty good tho.
Amazing food with real authentic flavor.
Fantastic food. Hard working servers
Great food at low prices very central in Pasadena and I always find parking on Oak knoll
Their curry is amazing. Their chicken dishes are a bit tough and over cooked sometimes.
Great food great prices. Recommends sticky rice and mango for deserts.
Hands down one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the socal area. I've been here multiple times and I'm now finally writing a review.
For appetizers: papaya salad and chicken satay are our favorites. A nice mellow sweet flavor of the chicken skewers paired with a kick of spice and vinegar of the papaya salad.
Entrees: A must order dish for us is their Tom Yum Fried Rice w/ shrimp, which are just flavors dancing in your mouth. And also order their Thai basil eggplant and yellow curry. We recently tried their fried catfish with red curry paste, and it was really delicious and sooo flavorful.
Unfortunately, we have yet to order dessert because we're always so stuffed after eating everything else, but hopefully we save enough room next time!
Food was delicious. Very small dining area with lots of food delivery personnel coming in. Better for picking up and enjoying elsewhere.
I loved
For the price this place is a 5. Maybe not thr greatest Thai in the world but I had great green curry sole for like $13 and pretty good calamari for $9. My wife was very satisfied with her Panang curry. Our Thai coffees were straight up not good, but the food was fire for the price and I don't go to a Thai place for coffee so I just won't order it again.
The service was so poor. When no one greeted and sat us we took an empty table. No one was waiting at that time. Then we sat and sat. Finally my husband went inside to order, at which time a woman came out to inform us that they were short handed and that we should leave if we didn’t want to wait. She repeated this several times and was very rude.
Finally a different waitress waited on us and the food came out quickly and was excellent as usual.
Waited about 40 minutes with no service at all. No drink order or food order. The guy next to me literally ordered, finished his food and got the check. Absolutely inexcusable service!!! I'd never recommend this place! And yes, I was seated the whole time. There are 7 tables inside. I am one of those. Make your own judgment call there.
Definitely my go-to for DELICIOUS Thai cuisine! The service is prompt. Food is always consistent, flavour wise. The servers are nice. I always recommend this spot.
The menu is huge - and all the food we have tried so far is really authentic and delicious. Don't miss the dessert; Mango sticky rice! So yummy.
The food is 🔥🔥🔥. Just wish they had more seating.
Agree with the newest reviews regarding bad service. There were six tables (all two-tops) when we arrived for lunch. We were seated and did not get menus. Ten mins in, finally just decided to pull up the menu from our phones. THIRTY mins in, no one had taken our order but a server did walk up to another table who came in AFTER us. YIKES. Bye, bye Nine&Nine.
