If you want an authentic Thai food, I would definitely say Blue Elephant is top notch in Bakersfield. I only took one photo of the food I ordered because once I started eating I just enjoyed it and totally forgot about my phone. The service was quick and the atmosphere was very homey. I will definitely go back for more.

Service was through Uber and was good.

There was no ambiance because we ate at home.

The reason for the four stars instead of five is two fold.

First the prices are not reasonable. $90 for three meals and eight spring rolls.

While the food is very good, the serving sizes are not worth the price. $24 for 8 Spring Rolls is ridiculous. They were actually smaller than the egg Rolls you get at Panda Express.

Second, The Blue Elephant send our food in an open bag, and the containers of Spring Rolls were open. That is completely unacceptable. At no time, should a delivery person be able to have ready access to a person's food. If the bag is to small to seal, use two bags.

Overall the experience was good except for those two issues.

Will I eat the food there again? Yes. Will I order the food on Uber or Doordash? Absolutely not. Not because of Doordash or Uber messing up, but I do not want my food left open for any person to access.

I had higher expectations from this restaurant because their ratings were so high. As you know I'm a very hard critic though. I will say that their blue crab fried rice was delicious and met my expectations. The green tofu curry was pretty tasty as well and had a gradual spice that even a mild spice tolerant person can handle.
Customer service on the other hand was absolutely terrible. Given, we only talk to the hostess because this was a takeout order. Upon entering she rudely asked us what we were there for and once we told her it was for takeout she pointed to a table and mumbled, "This is empty, so your order is not ready." She didn't even ask our names or order that we had ordered online. How are we supposed to know that ask empty table means our order isn't ready? Especially when we've never been there before. So we ended up standing there awkwardly until another guy came out and directed us to a place to sit.
The takeout calamari was average tasting. I just wish that they gave you more for your money.

My wife and I frequently eat Thai food in LA/OC and this place is no slouch; their dishes are flavorful and taste delicious.

We ordered deep fried flounder w/ three flavor sauce, papaya salad, talay Thai, and pad Thai. Every dish was a hit. We got medium spice and it is actually spicy. My wife and I can handle spice and this was enough to have you feel the spice but not too much that you won’t come back for another bite!

We’re definitely recommending Blue Elephant to all of our friends and will gladly come back whenever we’re in the area.

They went above and beyond, it’s a late review but they got frozen yogurt next door for my birthday. The service was great and the food was great.

Got denied service cause they said they’re closing early, i just wanted a quick soup but i guess they’re racist, there was tables seated without food yet. Horrible customer service

Crab Fried Rice was delicious. But, Tom Kah was slightly too salty as a soup and Drunken Noodles were missing the char from the wok. They were just too understaffed. The food came out clumsy. Overall, I would recommend this place but I don't see the difference between door-dash and dinning in.

We ate here on 11/6/2024 based on reviews. The dining area is clean. The biggest problem that I observed is that a gentleman's (manager or owner?) ate at the counter where orders were picked up. The most appaling was that he coughed without covering his mouth while eating and spraying his cough all over the food being picked up to be served for customers. My stomach turned 😩. I told the server to please advise the gentleman to cover his mouth so he won't spray germs on the customers food and food containers that are stored at the counter.

The food is good, not great but tastes good. Service is decent. But $19 for a very small order of a curry dish? I used to think it was slightly overpriced but decent enough considering there are not many other Thai options locally, but the food isn’t that good. Sorry BE, I won’t be going back at those prices, and that bums me out.

Food is good. Almost got turned off by by a poor review of the Tom kha. Glad I went anyways, since the Tom kha was good. Papaya salad fresh(vegan style) and many vegan options. The waitress was extremely kind as well and attentive. She offered "vegan chicken" in our fried rice even though I didn't see it on the menu. Food took time to make so it was actually fresh you could tell. Lastly for our leftovers, the take out bag and box set offered were of fine quality, so you can tell that this restaurant cares a great deal about quality.

The staff was nice enough however there was a roach that crawled on my table. The road appeared after the waitress bought a four flight tray of hot sauces. I walked out because that is unacceptable.

I've been here many times. It's always very high quality food with very high quality service. My family is vegetarian and they will take extra steps to separate the meat from the rest of the food so they can enjoy all the dishes. They're always ready to help with requests. They've even reserved seats for us when we had 10+ guests.

I always suggest this place to anyone who wants Thai food. It's the best location in Bakersfield (that I've discovered so far).

This is a must try place, you will not regret it. Bring your friends, bring your family. I eat family style so I can try every dish here, I don't think I've yet had a dish that I didn't like.

How on earth does this place have positive reviews? I had the curry sampler, the curries were watery, flavorless, and seemed to have been made hours ago and just sitting around. My partner had the eggplant, it was mushy and like panda express quality.

Also SUPER weird and off putting, throughout our meal, the waitress walked around filming/taking photos of the restaurant? No explanation, just like, photographing everyone wordlessly.

I am surprised that this place has high ratings. I ordered potstickers for appetizers for my child. They tasted exactly the same as the frozen ones at grocery stores. To be fair this restaurant focuses on Thai. So settled on drunken noodles and the chicken was raw and flavorless. And the Thai tea tasted so similar to the Thai Wala tea concentrate you can purchase at Vons that you mix with half and half.

Very rude behavior. We arrived at 8 45 PM, were not even given a decent table to sit for two folks despite the restaurant being empty. Charged 20% party gratuity for sitting over 9 PM for two folks. Such a rip off for pathetic experience. Would never come here again. Won’t recommend either.

It was one of the worst meals I've ever had. The orange chicken was overcooked and so hard I couldn't pierce it with my fork. The service was also horrible. I paid $60 for my meal. I will never go to this place again.

Wife and I have been ordering delivery and also coming here in person regularly for years. Used to always be consistent and 100% accurate.

We placed 6 orders in February. Twice in February we ordered mock chicken and instead got real chicken and one time they gave us beef instead of chicken.

Today I went in person and got two orders of mock chicken for carry out. 1 order was real chicken and 1 order was mock chicken. I'm not even going back for a refund. I'm never going back again.

My family and I ordered a variety of dishes: yellow curry with and w/o moc chicken, crispy fried red snapper, Golden Triangle, fresh ginger with selection of chicken, blue elephant cha cha with white, brown and coconut rice with the orders. I'm vegetarian and had the yellow curry with moc chicken and tried the other meatless dishes and I must say it's very well flavored. My family also loved their meals as well. The place appeared small but it was clean and inviting. The service was great also. My family and I are from out of town but I would definitely order from here again.

Great food. The short ribs in the red curry was standout, sweet, beefy, fatty, all the good stuff. The pad thai with seafood, seafood volcano, and drunken noodles were all very good. For dessert we had the mango mousse, which was very good as well as the mango with sticky rice.

This restaurant boasts several "best of" plaques and it lives up to the reputation. I loved the Thai Iced Tea, I had it made with coconut milk. The green curry was exquisite! The staff was freiendly and helpful when my husband didn't quite understand the menu. I will be back! The menu was amazing and food was perfection!!!

Well the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice it was a little small. Everyone that worked there was very friendly. The Food was excellent. I will definitely be returning.

I feel bad to give a one star review because the negative review is meant only for two staff members, Art, the guy with the glasses and another man whose name I could not get. These two guys are extremely rude and disrespectful. They do not have any sensitivity towards children.

We were a group of 5 adults and 3 kids, of which 2 kids are 18 months and 8 months old. Anyone who has dealt with kids will know that children this age communicate only by making sounds or getting a bit cranky when they disagree with the something.

Art, the glasses guy, walks us to our table and signals us to keep our kids quiet! Fine.. we tried to. Later he walks up to our table to serve and looks at the dropped food bits under the high chairs and goes “OH MY GOD!” very rudely. To which we told him that we’re going to clean it up, which we did before we left.

Next, I’m changing my 8 month old’s nappy in the toilet, the baby makes noise, which I believe is very common, the second man yells at me from outside “HEY! WHAT IS GOING ON?! KEEP YOUR BABY QUIET!!” He then continued to tell my wife to “DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO AND MAKE HIM QUIET!!!”

We then spoke to the manager, Natasha, who was understanding and apologised for this appalling behaviour of those two men.

A note to the two men… if you guys hate children so much, DO NOT work in the customer service, retail or hospitality industries as you will come across even louder and difficult kids. You yourself might have kids and you yourself were kids at one point, DO NOT FORGET THIS! This is The United States where every citizen is treated with respect irrespective of their age, if you cannot, feel free to return to your own country. Henceforth, be respectful to parents and kids or anyone else for that matter or else you might have to deal with our legal system to be disciplined.

A note to the owner.. if you want your business to be negatively impacted or you wish your customers to have this kind of insulting experience, do continue to keep these guys in your staff.. if not then you need to replace these two asap, preferably with sensitive, polite and deserving people which you will find in abundance in the US.

The food however was delicious, the other staff was very pleasant.. but unfortunately, because of these two, this restaurant has lost this family as customers forever.

So glad that we stopped in the food was great and so was the service, we shared the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp reminded us of the last we were in Thailand. Exquisite Thai food is served here and I have to say it is one of my favorite spots to grab Thai food. The service here is on point giving it a 5 star. We will see you again soon.

The fresh ginger plate was fantastic and the seafood hot pot had delicious broth and perfectly cooked variety of seafood, plus it was a gigantic portion.

Got Pad Thai, Tom Yum and Crispy Garlic Chicken. Got take out, the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is pretty in the restaurant, as soon as you walk in it smells amazing! Portions are generous, I've had a lot of Thai food and this is one of the best I've ever had!!

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. But you have to make sure to bring either an empty stomach, or 3 other people and order 2 dishes to share. If you don't you'll get leftovers to last a couple of days.

The folks who work here are some of the kindest individuals I’ve met in town. Not only is the food fantastic, the customer service is incredible. I have visited multiple times for take out and had to carry my baby into the restaraunt in his car seat, which is heavy and bulky. They’ve opened the door for me and also taken my food out to the car for me every time without me asking. Above and beyond for their customers which this mom appreciates!

I don't plan on returning to Blue Elephant in the future. You can't mess up Tai food, so it's one of many good option in Bakersfield. When I pointed it out they removed it, but this in my opinion was intentionally done to force a tip and I did not like that.

Sadly I will not be returning.

Honestly, not even one star for this place. Waited over 1 hour for food. No explanation on why it took so long. Takeout orders kept going out and continued to take new customers in even though there were 6 full tables of people got no food waiting over an hour. The owner has audacity to tell us that “you can leave if you want to because we are busy and trying our best.” At this point 3 tables have left unhappy.
So disappointed that food came out some salty, some super sweet and boat noodles has no taste. No reasons to go back like ever.

EXTREMLEY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE After ordering something as simple as drunken noodle and potstickers on door dash and after waiting 2 hours and them turning away 2 drivers. And them telling me rudely to do what I want when I told them I am cancelling I will NEVER do business with this place EVER AGAIN!!

I ordered the pad see ew, veggie spring rolls, and a pomegranate~lemonade.

I would have rather of had fresh spring rolls versus fried spring rolls (I had to order through DoorDash, fresh spring rolls were not an option on that menu).

The food was ok(not disappointed, but I do not rate the food, 4 or 5 star food). It wasn't as good as, I had on separate occasions, from 2 previously visited Thai restaurants. Both were outside(out of town), of Bakersfield; the food at those 2 places was so good, that I would drive back, just to eat, at one of those particular establishments.

The service got 5 stars. I didn't rate the atmosphere, as I have never physically been to the restaurant- this order was through DoorDash.

Best Thai food in Bakersfield hands down. You have to try the sticky rice and mango desert. Desert of Legends!

All the curries here can be made vegan, and the server was knowledgable about the menu and veganizing things. My mom had the golden triangle and I had the yellow curry. (FYI their "spicy" is pretty hot.) I'd go here again for sure.

Also, they have "mock chicken" which I believe is seitan based. It wasn't mind blowing or anything but they gave a very generous portion of it.

Over rated..the carrots were like shoe leather, the chicken was tough. Need new chef.

First time trying food Here. The have found the Staff friendly so I was surprised with the other Reviews. Anyway I orderd a Red curry Chicken. I really loved that food but it was way to spicey lol. I had to wait in between to finish the Food because I couldn't handle the burn. But that's preference so it's ok. I do however think it's way to pricey. This was defently expensive for only food without any drink or appetizer. It is delicious so I'd recommend 😊

Got a take out order I got there as early as soon as they open. The waiter was very nice and helpful. I just want to try the wonton soup and it was yummy but pricey. Also ordered a whole coconut. Sure ill come back again to try some curry.

They charge gratitude on our tab for a table of 2. Will not return.

I was disappointed with the quality and service here. I eat Thai food often and my favorite thing to get is Tom Kha. This soup had very little coconut milk, no ginger, no lemongrass, no lime leaf. I was served a mystery broth probably from a powder or paste. When I talked to the owner she was very rude and unhelpful saying since she “was from Thailand” (and I was not) she knew the “authentic” recipe. I definitely will never return there.

Excellent food. Great service, quick and delicious food. Salmon green curry, egg plant and tofu, green salad, sticky mango rice were all excellent. Plus very warm and helpful staff.

Extremely rude service and horrible food quality. Spent $85 on a Tom Yum soup, Panang Curry, Blue Crab fried rice, and Pad See Ew and it was most definitely the worst thai food I have ever attempted eating. It was inedible.

UPDATE: I went in to get a refund on the food that was uneaten the next morning (food was put in the fridge immediately when we knew we were not going to eat it). The owner flat out refused to give me any sort of refund, future discount, remake of the food, or any appologies. He then hilariously tried to have me take the rejected food with me. He was also pretty rude and standoffish. Don't buy into all the rave about this place, I think the owner pays for reviews and to get bad ones removed.

Got the blue crab fried rice, pad see ew, panang curry, tom yum, and chicken sate all for $86. The only things that were even edible were the white rice, curry, and sate. The blue crab fried rice had no flavor with big pockets of what tasted like black pepper, and it was majorly overcooked, with squishy clumps of rice. The crab had a really funky and bitter unfresh taste to it as well, no sweetness. Pad see ew honestly tasted sort of like spaghetti, like with marinara, not sure if they used a tomato base or something, but it had no flavor other than the strange background sauce, not sweet, nor savory. Panang curry was alright, not great, but it was very spicy (not advertised as such) and they put a bunch of cucumbers in it, which just didn't taste good with it. The tom yum was just gross, I couldn't even touch it. It didn't even taste like what I would have called tom yum, it tasted closer to minestrone. The chicken sate was actually pretty good, but I'm skeptical that the peanut sauce was not house made, too sweet and yummy to resemble anything going on in this kitchen. Avoid at all costs.

First time coming to Blue Elephant. We came because my mother wanted some Thai food so here we went.

We got a bunch of stuff. I won’t lie. I’m not really sure what we got. A bunch of it was seafood. Im not really a big seafood person but what we got was good!

Whatever that Hit Pot soup stuff was…it was awesome.

I definitely recommend trying the Thai beer. They only had 2 options and they were both pretty good.

We ordered too much food that we didn’t have room for the mango sticky rice (highly recommended I hear) something to look forward for next time.

Just because they are busy tonight for dinner they made me wait for 25 minutes and keep offering me to sit outside even tho it’s cold , they have 3 tables available inside for 2 people but will not seat me! they are after big orders, so unfair! Little that they know I will still order to go for 2 person! I will never go back to place like this where they treat you very bad!!!!

Great Thai food at moderate prices! I have loved every dish I have tried! I highly recommend the Curry Sampler and Coconut Paradise for seafood fans.

Everything is good ,lol but the food is bland

The curry noodle will forever be one of my favorites! A mix of 2 delicious items, curry and noodles! And i topped off my satisfying visit with a banana puff. I'm still thinking about it a week later. 100% recommended for a nice atmosphere, great service and good food.

Very good food. The dinning area is a little small but it works go early or make a reservation. It fills up quickly.

I ordered to-go and despite little face time with the staff, the service was not pleasant.

My order sat for 10 minutes before I finally stopped someone and asked if I could be handed my order. They complied but looked at me as if I was stealing someone else’s food.

The Thai iced tea was great, the seafood soup in lemongrass broth was lackluster and the fish in it tasted old and gross.

Totally not worth it. Siam Iyara is way better. They were closed tonight which is why I decided to try a different place. My word it was awful.

I had higher expectations from this restaurant because their ratings were so high. As you know I'm a very hard critic though. I will say that their blue crab fried rice was delicious and met my expectations. The green tofu curry was pretty tasty as well and had a gradual spice that even a mild spice tolerant person can handle.
Customer service on the other hand was absolutely terrible. Given, we only talk to the hostess because this was a takeout order. Upon entering she rudely asked us what we were there for and once we told her it was for takeout she pointed to a table and mumbled, "This is empty, so your order is not ready." She didn't even ask our names or order that we had ordered online. How are we supposed to know that ask empty table means our order isn't ready? Especially when we've never been there before. So we ended up standing there awkwardly until another guy came out and directed us to a place to sit.
The takeout calamari was average tasting. I just wish that they gave you more for your money.

Really sorry we didn’t get to eat the food we spent $45 on. We ordered delivery and the restaurant obviously screwed up the order. We called the delivery service first, who then called the restaurant. The restaurant told the delivery service they were sorry, very busy, driver on their way. This was one hour after the confirmed time. So almost 2 hours later, after we called the restaurant ourselves who lied about the driver being on their way, we called the delivery service back to cancel our order. Apparently we won’t see the refund for possibly several days. Very unhappy with the restaurant, the delivery service was not to blame.

The servers made sure we had what we needed. We decided to try dining in here because this Thai restaurant doesn't close between lunch and dinner, and we wanted a late lunch. They made sure not to put onions in my pad thai, and we are happy we ate here.
